Observations of a Broken Man
Summary: End of Cyberwoman; what were the rest of the team thinking as Ianto broke down? No real spoilers except for Cyberwoman and a teensy bit of Fragments.
Disclaimer: I do not own. Though I wish I did.

Owen swallowed a gulp as he watched Ianto cling to Lisa's dead body, sobbing hysterically. The memories of losing Katie were fresh in his mind, and half of him wanted to walk over to the tea-boy, place a hand on his shoulder and tell him that everything would be alright. That wounds would heal. That he'd been through something scarily similar, losing his girlfriend because of aliens, and hey, he'd come out of it fine. But he didn't, and just stood there, looking on.

Toshiko could see how much pain her friend was in. The agony of seeing Lisa fall in front of his eyes was all over his face, and part of her felt guilty at playing a part in the death. But, she reminded herself sharply, Lisa had wanted to kill the lot of them earlier in the evening. It was kill or be killed, and she knew which she'd prefer. She was tempted to put a comforting arm around Ianto, but decided against it. She didn't want to interrupt his last moments with the woman he had loved for so long.

Gwen shuddered at the mere thought of how Ianto could have managed to keep Lisa alive for so long and right under their noses. She hadn't suspected a thing, and she doubted the others had, either. She knew that if it had been her and Rhys in the situation, she would have done anything to keep him alive. Including what Ianto had done. She was tempted to go over to him and tell him that he was right in his actions, but she guessed it wasn't what he wanted to hear at that moment in time. So she kept quiet.

Jack stared at the young Welshman, who was clinging onto his girlfriend tightly and showed no signs of letting go. It had been, what, ten minutes already? Not that Jack had been keeping track of the time. He had already watched his young employee torture himself for much longer than Jack had wanted. Part of him was glad Ianto was punishing himself over the situation; it would make Jack's job easier in the long run. He obviously couldn't let Ianto escape without being reprimanded over keeping a partially-converted Cyberwoman in the basement at Torchwood Three, but he figured compassionate leave would be best, disguised, obviously, as a suspension. Help in the form of a punishment. He wouldn't break it to Ianto yet. He'd just stand and watch while the young man grieved some more.
