"It could happen to you...love".
Mac was right on the money when he said those words to Danny. Danny brushed those words off because he wasn't the type of guy to fall in love. He was never a love-and-leave'em type but he didn't want to feel tied down to one single girl. Take a girl out, show her the town and wine-and-dine them was his philosophy.
He began to get invitations from his childhood buddies to go to a wedding. He would go and take a date but it never fazed him. He was there for his buddies and all, but he just didn't want to go.
And let's not forget the family pressure. Aunt Regina wondering when she was going to be invited to another wedding. He would just nod his head and say "someday" to her and that would make her gleam for awhile. Then his mother would get to him and let him know that she would like for him to meet a wonderful girl. He would let out an "okay" and then change the subject. It was easier that way.
And to tell the truth, he was afraid of falling in love. He saw as many divorces as he saw marriages. He didn't want to become a statistic in the state of New York. He was not a betting man; he didn't want to take chances.
He was afraid of failing if he was married. Would he be a good husband? Could he make his wife happy? Could he provide for his family? All this questions swirled in his head, and it would keep him up.
He made a decision: he wouldn't fall in love.
He fell back on his word in the fall of 2006.
He met this petite brunette who had a spark to her that you wouldn't believe. She would match you wit by wit and would let you know if you were wrong.
He didn't like her at first. Almost hated her. But she grew on him. And as time went on he began to flirt with her a bit. She'd flirt back but her flirting was about trying to prove him wrong.
But something happened.
He began to feel heartache when she left for the day. He would dream about her. He began pick up her favorite bagel and have it ready when she came in for work and just knew how many sugars to put in her coffee.
Those six little words began to haunt him.
And as he is lying in his bed, he looks over at his petite beauty. She is curled up against him facing his chest. He reaches over to push back the curls that frame her face.
He places a small kiss on the top of her head and prays to God for knocking some sense into him at the wedding alter crime scene.
