She looked slightly surprised when he took a seat on the wooden floors, watching her intently under the hot sun, although she was quick to return to her work soon after his arrival, unperturbed by his staring. After all, this was not the first time he had join her on the deck. On a nearby table sat a cool drink, which had been delivered by Sanji earlier with dear affection. She forgot all about the world around her, wrapped in the trance of the sun glinting off the plump tangerines, the smell of the salty sea, the singing of the leaves as the wind glided past them…
Nami paused from her hard work, wiping the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. She mentally cursed the same sun that gave her the nostalgic feeling of home and her dear Bellemere, closing her eyes against the blinding light. Footsteps whispered behind her, and she could now smell straw as a hat clashed with her hair. She opened her eyes, rough hands caressing hers and freeing the tangerine and shears from her grasp, replacing it with cool glass. Luffy stood beside her with a small frown on his face before his legs buckled, and he fell to the ground, dirt collecting where he fell. "Yosh, I'm tired," he murmured, closing his eyes.
After regaining herself from shock, she soon joined him, sitting upright, leaning against the trunk, her eyes overcome with hazy sleep. The sun began to sink underwater. She was halfway there to joining Luffy in sleep, when he spoke, three brilliant words that made her aware of her surroundings. "I like this." He gazed at the blue sea above him, watching the birds glide, weaving in and out between the winds. His smile spoke of tranquility.
"Aye, captain," she murmured, watching him. Her heart told her of a hidden meaning behind these words. He closed his eyes again, the silly smile still in her sight.
"When I'm Pirate King, you'll have a lot of money and lots of tangerines…and I want a lot of this," he made a sweeping motion, sitting up now and glancing at his navigator, his eyes shining with possibilities, "A lot of…us." He took the drink from her hands and took a long swig. She did not answer him for a while, watching him with observant eyes as he stared back, waiting.
"Yeah," she finally said, a small smile break across her lips as she lowered the hat over her eyes, hiding her pleased eyes. She kicked back, hearing Luffy lie down ones more, his arms thrown over his head, hand brushing hers as he fell asleep. "I like this too, Luffy."
