Beth Lestrade was in a bad mood and anyone with eyes -scratch that- anyone, with or without eyes, could tell. Chief Inspector Greyson had just pulled her of off a case she had been working on for over four weeks now, and she was Not happy about it.

She stomped up the stairs of 221b ready to slam open the door, when Holmes opened it, causing her to stumble into the room. Needless to say, this did not improve her mood at all.

"Zed, Holmes! Do you always have to do that?"

"My apologies Lestrade. How did your interview with Greyson go?"

Beth glared at him, "Why don't you deduce the answer to that yourself Holmes?" She bit out.

He stared at her for a moment before answering.

"Well judging by the way you stormed into the flat I'm led to believe that he made the decision to take you off of the Brenton robbery case."

"Brilliant deduction Sherlock." Was the sarcastic reply.

Holmes raised an eyebrow at her as Lestrade fell into one of the armchairs, finally giving into the exhaustion that had been threatening to take hold for the past three and a half days. Her anger slowly dissipated and was quickly replaced by misery.

"I just don't understand. He knows how hard I've worked on this case. Why would he just rip it out from under me like this?"

Sherlock dropped himself into the opposite armchair, allowing a small smirk to play across his features before replying to her question. "It couldn't have anything do with the events of last night could it?"

Lestrade colored slightly as she remembered the details of the previous evening.

"It's not like I haven't totaled a cruiser before. Just because this last one was brand new, specially designed and updated doesn't mean he has to be so sore about it. I almost caught the thief anyway! If that last billboard hadn't got in the way he'd be in New Scotland Yard's holding cells by now!"

Holmes chuckled. "Alas the poor billboard had to suffer your ill placed wrath and the thief remains on the streets."

Beth rolled her eyes at Holmes. He smirked again before his expression turned serious.

"I am truly sorry that Greyson deemed it necessary to take you off of this case simply because of a ruined hover car Lestrade. But take heart, you'll have a new case in no time. He paused for a moment before adding, "Besides, that robbery case was rather dull to begin with."

Beth chucked a cushion at him, which he easily dodged, as Watson strode in carrying a tray of tea and biscuits.

"I assumed you were in a rather unpleasant state of mind and thought that a hot cup of tea would not be unappreciated." Stated Watson as he placed the tray down between them before settling into his own chair.

Lestrade sighed as she picked up her teacup but Holmes saw a small smile appear as she carefully sipped the hot beverage.

I suppose it hasn't been such an awful day compared to most. I still have friends that care about me. And maybe I can convince Greyson to put me back on the case after he cools down a bit.

Lestrade allowed herself proper smile and took another sip of her tea.
