AN: I don't own Harry Potter or Devil May Cry. Enjoy.
Before the birth of modern day technology and magical communities there were the Dark Ages. Before the Dark Ages, there were primates. Before primates, there were Dinosaurs, and so on and so forth… Back when time was just being born, back when chaos ruled the land, there were Demons. Back then, nothing stood in the way of The Demon King, Mundus. He ruled the Underworld for many millennia's. The chaos that made most demons mad for power, slowly overtook him and drove him to invade the human realm to make it his own as well. Until, one demon decided to end the chaos. That demon was, Sparda, the Dark Knight and 2nd in command of the Demon Army under the Demon King Mundus. Sparda along with a handful of his closest soldiers, rebelled against the Demon King. The Civil War of the Demons lasted for years, decades, centuries and even a millennia. Until finally Sparda and his soldiers made a last ditch effort to kill the Demon King, or at least send him back to the Underworld and seal him away along with his Army. And they were able to do just that, with Sparda and Mundus dueling for the fate of the earth, and Spardas soldiers pitting against the entire Demon Army numbering 1000 to 1 against them, and yet they prevailed. Sparda's Army had won the battle and banished the demons back to hell, but at a price. And the price was the lose of Spardas power and his entire army were also trapped in Hell, away from their leader. Sparda had become a human after the loss of all his Demonic powers except one, his immortality. It was a price he gladly gave to end the chaos. For now…
He married a young woman a few years later and had twins, the oldest named Vergil and the youngest Dante. The boys were very powerful for being so young and so they were trained to control the power that was inside them. For many years Sparda had trained not only himself but his children as well, for he knew one day the Gates to Hell would open again. When the boys were 15, Sparda suddenly disappeared, and there mother half-dead. On her death bed the boys received an amulet, each with half of the whole amulet. Before there mother could say more she was gone, and the boys were left on there own. They traveled the world together in search of their father, but they never found him, only rumors of where he might be next. Along their travels, they also studied as much as they could, having only each other to rely on. They both received training in swordsmanship from Japan and China, as well as marksmanship from the States, and many more helpful tricks of the trade that they came across.
After many years of traveling, the twins gave up on finding their father, and slowly gave up on each other. For one of them wanted to regain his fathers honor and continue his legacy as the Strongest Demon in Hell, Vergil. Dante on the other hand was more willing to except his father for who he was in the end, a Demon who helped humans against the madness of the Hordes of Demons from Hell who wanted nothing better than to have Earth as their own playground. And so, Dante and Vergil went their separated ways after many verbal and very physical fights. Dante stayed among the humans and started a business, Devil May Cry. Vergil, on the other hand, decided to research how to open the Gate to Hell that his father had closed all those many years ago.
