Never The Same

"Go." A simple word and her heart broke. Every part of her soul cried.

She knew he had to go. She couldn't deny there was any other way. No one better qualified for the job.

She tried to convince herself he was the same as everyone else. That he would be just one more person who had died. No different. No more important. How many times had she tried? She never could.

She knew he was the one. She felt an instant connection the first time they had arrived on Atlantis.

And now he was leaving. Leaving for good. No way out. It hurt. It hurt to breathe.

She hardly heard him as he rode in the jumper to the Wraith's ship. She didn't know what was happening around her.

If someone later asked her what anyone said including herself. She would have no idea.

All she wanted t do was fall apart. To find a place so she could cry. To let out all the agony in her heart. Every part that hurt. Every fiber of her being.

Then, it happened. The glow that was him on the sensor was extinguished. In one bright flash lasting no more than a second. He was gone. And her heart shattered into a million pieces.
