House: Ravenclaw

"Ron."

I lean closer to the Deluminator, not quite believing what I had just heard. It was her voice saying my name. Just my name and only once.

I turn the Deluminator over in my hand, the metal is cold against my fingers, and it looks the same as it always has. Even from the time, it was first placed in my hands, which feels like years ago. Curiosity overtakes me and I gently click the top of the Deluminator.

A small blue ball of light floats out; I blink and rub my eyes, but the little ball of light is still there. It is just floating there, gently bobbing up and down, illuminating the space around it.

It begins to move, just slowly flowing away from me. It is around five metres ahead of me before I start to follow it. I take slow, gentle steps, keeping a distance from it as it leads me out of Shell Cottage, into the backyard, then finally into the shed.

There are no lights inside the shed, but the entire room was lit up with its presence. I stare down at the Deluminator, in awe, how is it moving? Then I feel something in my chest. I look down to see the last of the ball of light going through me. A warm feeling spreads through my entire body just before it shoots back out.

It moves towards the door, faster than before. I chase after it, back through the backyard and to the back door of Shell Cottage. Then it suddenly stops, just before the door.

It continues to bob up and down like before as if it were waiting for me. Then it occurs to me maybe it is waiting for me. I wonder why it is waiting for me, and where would it take me. I somehow know this will take me back, to Harry and Hermione. But I am torn, between going back where everything will be hard and having to face the fact I abandoned them or staying here and hoping for the best and wondering whether they will forgive me when it's over. Will they ever forgive me? Will she ever forgive me?

I run into the room I am staying in, and pack a small rucksack. I only put simple things in, like my wand and a change of clothes. I run back out of the house until I hear Bill say, "Ron." And my head swivels round, and he has a curious look on his face. Bill knows I abandoned them; he was not impressed but he let me stay. I continue to walk out the door, but then he grabs my arm.

"Ron, where are you going?"

All I say is one word "Back" he looks at me and nods.

As I see Harry in the bottom of the lake, struggling to get back up, I know it was right to come back.

I was right to trust the light.
