It Was A Dark And Stormy Night…

Ella's POV

So, lately my half-sister Max and her flock (except Iggy) have been playing matchmaker on me and, well, you probably know. I'll give you a hint. He's the only one not matchmaking with the flock. But, I didn't have a problem with this cuz, well, it was Iggy.

I like Iggy.

Well… ok, I have a major crush on Iggy.

"Oh my God! Guess what Ella? We're all going to the fair!" I heard Max practically yelling to me from inside while I was sitting in the garden at my beautiful house in Arizona where I lived with my mom. The flock came by for a visit.

I knew that Max wasn't really happy about going to a fair. But hey, she was matchmaking! I gotta admit she was pretty freaking good at it!

A few hours later

"So…" Iggy began, his voice sounding a little confused, "Exactly why are we at a fair?

"Reasons." That was all Max cared to reply with.

"WOW! This is super-duper awesomely cool! Look over there! Oh, lookie here! Max, can I pleeeease get a big bunny? He's so cute! Oh, wait, never mind! I want the big cat instead!" Nudge was definitely having a great time.

"Don't forget Nudge," Max whispered with a mysterious hint to her voice, " We're here on ERMP"

"Wha…?" Gazzy replied.

"Eggy Romantic Matchmaking Patrol. I know it sounds weird but that's all I could come up with."

Wow. Nudge was right! The fair was absolutely amazing! The best part, Iggy was here, too. His eyes, his beautiful, sightless, sky blue eyes, were gleaming under the bright moon.

"So, Iggy, a-are you having fun?" I managed to choke up.

"Yeah. It's nice out here. What do you think?"

"It's… uh… I like it." Really Ella? Is that really all you can come up with?

"You ok El? You don't sound like yourself." Iggy said, sightlessly looking through me.

Oh my gosh! He actually cared!

"I'm fine," I began, choking up every word. "I just… um, Iggy?

"Yeah?"

"I… I really like you and um…"

The next thing I knew I was wrapped up in Iggy's embrace, never feeling safer. Our hug lasted longer than any hug I'd had in a long time. "I'm so glad you feel the same way I do about you, Ella," He whispered.

"Wait, did you hear that?" He asked me, sounding shocked as we pulled apart.

"Hear what?" I asked drily.

Suddenly, some old man was at my face giving me an I'm-going-to-kill-you face. I screamed, hurting my own eardrums. What did he want? What did I ever do to him? Where was Iggy? Where was I?

Ready to die? Well, you have no choice!" The Old Man shouted with an irritating screech to his voice.

"Let me go, please!" I begged. And begged. And begged. It was all useless. I was useless. I wanted to go back to my hug with Iggy so much right now. But I couldn't. I was trapped by some old guy who I had never—wait a minute!

"Ahhhh!" I never screamed so loud in my entire life before. This was the guy I saw on the news earlier—the one who'd escaped from prison!

"Iggy! Help!" I knew I didn't have much time left before I was dead. A pointed shadow came to my face. A knife. I. Was. Dead. Meat.

In the next millisecond, a whoosh of air sent a chill down my spine. And a great sigh of relief. Iggy. My hero. Mine.

"Ella! Run!" I would do anything, anything Iggy asked me to do. So I ran like I'd never run before!

"Ella! Thank goodness you're ok!" How sweet! Angel was worried about me!

"Ella!" My ears were chorused with my name over, and over again. Hugs sent tears of joy down my cheeks.

Wait—"Iggy!"

"Where is he?" Gazzy said, frightened.

"Oh, I think he's ok…" replied Max with a grin. "Here he comes."

"Iggy!" I ran up to him but before I could hug him, our lips were pressed against one another.

This was the best and worst night of my life. This dark and stormy night. Well, not really stormy, but, it just sounds cool.
