Tears
"Sit down Usagi, we need to talk to you."
Those ominous words greeted Usagi as she walked into the lounge. Both of her parents where there, which was rare these days, as her father worked away from home a lot, and both were looking grave. As she sat Usagi studied her parents carefully, looking for any clues about this impromptu meeting. She noticed with shock that both her parents were getting grey hairs, and age lines, although neither of them were more then 45 years old.
With a glance at his wife, Tsukino Ken turned to his daughter and started to talk. "You mother and I have made a decision about your future Usa, we've been considering this for a while but we wanted to give you a chance to bring you grades up, which unfortunately you haven't done.."
"I've tried," whined Usagi "But its sooo hard, both Ami and Sensei Haruna have tried helping but I just don't understand."
"We know darling," replied Ilene, Usagi's mother, "which is why we've decided to send you to boarding school," Usagi stared at her mother in horror as she continued, "we've found one that we think will do you a world of good. It has an excellent pass rate, plenty of opportunity for studying language and the arts."
"And its an all girls school, so no distractions" added Ken, with satisfaction. "But.but.." Was all Usagi could manage.
"We know you don't want to do this Usagi, but if you can get your grades up and keep them up then next year you can re-join your class mates. Until then you'll be a student at the Starshine Academy for Girls. You'll be leaving in a week, so until then you're excused from you're chores so you can spend time with your friends."
Usagi slowly got to her feet, numb, and in a daze left the lounge and climbed the stairs to her room.
Luna looked around from her perch on the window ledge as the door open and Usagi entered. Immediately she realised something wrong, as her charge, normally so happy and full of energy, collapse on her bed and burst into tears.
"What's wrong Usa? What's happened?" Luna jumped onto the bed and hurried up to Usagi.
Slowly, between sobs, Usagi managed to tell Luna the fate her parents had planned.
Finally the tears subsided and Usagi fell into an exhausted sleep. Leaving Luna to ponder the question, what would the scouts do without Sailor Moon?
