Chapter 1: One of these days

I didn't notice
But I didn't care

I tried being honest
But that left me nowhere

It was an early morning when Liz Parker returned home from her vacation in Florida. The sun started to burn, what she wouldn't give for a nice fresh breeze. Taking another deep breath, she grabbed her suitcase out of the trunk and made her way inside the Crashdown. Thank god Maria wasn't working today.
"Thank you dad" she thought relieved as she walked up the stairs to her bedroom. Liz put down her suitcase and sat down on her bed, looking back at why she left in the first place. Shaking her head, clearing her mind she made her way on to balcony, enjoying the gentle breeze in the shade.

Michael arrived at the Crashdown about half-hour before his shift started. He took off his helmet, as he spotted Liz standing on her bedroom balcony. Michael stopped and looked at her for a few seconds but she didn't seem to notice him. Shrugging is shoulders, Michael got of his motorcycle and made his way inside.

It was almost 10a.m. and Liz still hadn't been down once. Max, Izzy, Tess and Maria already left after breakfast and it was time for a break. Things were slowing down anyway, until lunch time that was. Only a handful people were still there. Michael took of his apron and made his way into the break room. He was about to sit down, when he heard Mr. Parker calling out to Liz, but not getting a response. For some unknown reason Michael made his way up the stairs on to the balcony. Liz was still standing in the same place, not moved an inch, back leaning against the wall, eyes closed, she looked tired. Carefully Michael moved closer, not to disturb her, he leaned beside her. It was nice up here, quiet, the only sound up here was the wind gazing trough the trees.

Oh if I could
I'd let you feel everything I'm thinking

Liz noticed someone standing besides her, but wasn't sure who it was. She just hoped it wasn't Max or Maria. Not wanting to open her eyes, she waited a moment just to realize that, who ever it was hasn't said anything yet either. Curious to see who it was, she opened her eyes.

"Michael?" she said in a surprised low voice.

"Hey Parker."

"What are you doing here?"

"Could ask you the same?" he said looking at her.

"I suppose you could", Liz answered, giving him a brief smile.

"It's on of these days huh?"

"Yup."

No one spoke for a while. They just enjoyed the silence, and maybe the company of each other. Closing her eyes again, Liz tried to ignore the feeling of being exposed. If Michael knew she was up here, did the others knew too? She had to make sure.

"You didn't tell anyone I'm up here, right?", Liz broke the silence eventually.

"No!", Michael responded a bit surprised. "Why?"

"No reason!"

"If you say so."

Liz opened her eyes again looking at Michael skeptical. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"You hiding up here, aren't you?"

"Maybe", Liz responded trying to sound unconcernedly.

"Right!"

"I literally just got back. I just need some time alone."

"Isn't that what Florida was there for?"

"Yeah." Liz said in a sad voice. "I guess."

Michael notice the sadness. He figured shutting up now would not be a bad idea. It's not like he came up here to talk to her. But than again he didn't knew why he came up here in the first place. More time passed by and Michael realized his break would be over soon. Liz noticed him shifting besides her.

"Your break is almost over."

"Yeah. I know."

This was a kinda awkward situation for them, neither of them knowing how they came to this. Eventually Michael pushed himself of the wall ready to go back to work, when Liz spoke.

"Hey Michael."

"Yeah?"

"Could you not ... like ..."

"... tell that you back yet?" he finished her sentence looking at her. Liz nodded her head. "Got that already. And just so you know! You not the only one avoiding them." with that Michael turned around ready to leave.

"Hey." Liz interrupted him. "If you ever not want to talk again. You welcome here, you know."

"Thanks Parker." Michael said with a smirk.

"I'm here all week." she yelled after him has he left her room.

One of these days
I won't be afraid of staying

"Guess this day isn't so bad after all". Liz thought relieved, as a chill through to her body, making her shiver. Being up here all morning, she didn't even noticed how cold she was. Liz climbed back into her bedroom and put on her sweatshirt. She still was not in the mood to talk to Max or Maria anytime soon, but this none-talk with Michael, for some reason, is exactly what she needed.

"Hey you ok sweetie?" her dad ask a bit concerned.

"I'm fine dad. Thanks for asking doh." Liz gave him a hug.

"Hey what did Michael want?" he ask wondering, reminding him why he came to her room in the first place. "I saw him leave."

Liz just shrug her shoulders. "Who knows. He's not much of a talker, but that's ok."

Mr. Parker looked a bit perplexed at his daughter. "Glad you feeling better. You had me worried there for minute". he said goin back down.

"Me too, dad." Liz wispered to herself as she turned to her still unpacked suitcase. It was time to unpack. It's just on of these days.

I hope you guys like this version. I think it is better than the first draft.
