Chapter Two

Heath was standing there with that cocky smile plastered on his face, but that wasnt what i was looking at. It was his forehead. Did he do that as some sick joke or was it real?

"Zo!" Heath yelled, running up to me. I felt Erik tense right beside me. "Now we could be together again, when i break up with Kayla. She proably wont even care." Heath told me.

This time both Erik and I tensed up. Rather then saying anything, he just put his arm around me. I didnt shrugg it off, i knew that he was trying to show that were together without being possesive, not an easy thing to do.

"Heath," I told him. "I dont want to get back together, Im happy with Erik. Now excuse, but im exhausted. Can we talk in the morning?"

Before i could take 2 steps, Anastasia stopped me, "Zoey, Im sorry but we have immediate business to attend to."

I just sighed and nodded. My sleep would have to wait.

"The high council is here and, well, we have a problem. She countinued. Hell! Why does my life revolve around problems! I sighed. This just sucks. I let Anastasia lead me to the great hall to adress the council.

The council was held in a large room i had never been in. The walls were a scarlet colour and white curtains that covered the rim of the wondows, letting the moons pale glow in. The center of the room had a rectangualar table, with 4 full chairs and one empty one, for me. Anastasia lead me to the empty chair, gave me a quick smile and left. Every person on the council had gone through the change. Exept for me. Making me the freak all over again. Not that i never got over it, but being with all of these full vamps, made me feel like a child again.

"Meeting is now in session," exclaimed on of the council elders. "We are here for many reasons," She told everyone. " We are here to talk about Neferet unleashing Kalona," anger flashed against my face when the word Neferet came up, but i let him continue.

"We are also here for the sudden death of Shanika, who we all shall miss." Everyone, including me, took a moment of silence. "However, we will firstly be talking about our outstanding fledging Zoey Redbird," my face flushed when they mentioned my name.

"We are here to talk to you about you're future Zoey," Said another vampire.

I raised my eyebrow, "Future?"

"We are planning on making you the new high priestess of this house of night," The vamire continued. "This year."

My mouth dropped, "But i havent even gone through the change, and i," as i was trying to protest, but i got cut off.

"Oh of course. Once you complete the change, you will be given the job as high priestess and you will be filling in Shanikas position on the high council also," They said confidently.

Before i could say anything about there second plan for me, a thought came to mind," What if i dont make through the change?"

"Oh please Zoey, you are an extremely healthy fledging, and even if you dont make it through the change, you can still take Neferets and Shanika's place as a red fledging," before i could let out a groan or sigh, she opened her mouth again. "I should also tell you that the red fledgings shall be joinging the school to."

I nearly burst out of my chair and started to dance on the table from my exciment, "Stevie Rae is going to school here again!" I nearly screached that out.

"Stevie Rae is also able to stay in you're room with all of her belongings as well," She smiled. I wanted to go run up to her and give her a big hug, but that simply isnt done.

"Thank you," is all i said.

"From now on Zoey Redbird, this is you're seat on the council," And with those final words, my first council meeting was done.
