He opened his eyes slowly and then shut tight as rays of blinding sunlight peeked into the room which was decorated in scarlet and gold. With a groan, he opened his eyes again, wishing they'd left the curtains drawn last night.

Last night…

He smiled. Last night was one of the rare times that she'd actually open up. They'd fooled around in the room after a big food fight in the kitchens. After cleaning up, they'd sat by the window and he'd listened as she talked about her sister, something she rarely did. She'd broken down the walls around her last night; she'd let him in…

Instinctively, his arms moved and wrapped themselves around the sleeping figure beside him. He moved in a more comfortable position, with her back against his chest. Pulling her closer, he smelt in the sweet, familiar fragrance as he buried his face in her hair. He moved the red locks away, and nuzzled his face against her neck.

He felt her stiffen, and then relax as she remembered where she was. "Morning, sunshine," he whispered in her ear.

She let out a small groan and turned over a bit so that she could bury her face in his chest. "No one home… come back again tomorrow."

He chuckled and kissed the top of her head. "Aren't you hungry?"

"No, " she said, scooting closer to him, just as her stomach growled.

He chuckled more loudly. "Well, I never knew that our Little Miss Perfect Head Girl actually ever lied."

She opened one eye and glared at him. "Say that again and I'll kill you before you can say 'Mercy'."

He gave her an innocent look and pecked her on her cheek.

"Ugh. Don't go mushy on me now. I'm in the mood for murder."

"Well, then I suppose we could call Sirius over. You can murder him."

"Hmm… and let him see us like this? I'm not taking that risk."

"Touché, but he gives us hell anyway…"

She lifted her head so that she could look at him properly. "James Potter, do you really want Sirius Black in here right now?"

"Er… good point."

She nodded. "Now that we've cleared that up, let me go back to sleep."

"What? But you're awake now! I didn't know you liked to sleep in. And anyway, don't you have some pesky little kids to tutor?"

She gave a dramatic sigh. "Well, I figured that I could cancel he lessons, seeing as you're giving up your Quidditch practice today…"

He blinked. "I … Oh, Merlin! I'm late!"

She slowly sat up, and laughed seeing him hurry around in the room, pulling on his Quidditch robes.

"I'm late. And I'm the Captain… oh, Merlin… what's the time? What's the time?"

He reached for the little alarm clock on the bedside table and his eyes grew wide. "I'm an hour late! I'm an hour late!"

Hiding her smile, she pouted. "But James, what about me?"

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Lily! I'll come as soon I finish practice! I'm sorry! Bye!" he yelled as he left the room.

Laughing openly now, Lily reached for the alarm clock. Shaking her head fondly at her boyfriend, she adjusted the correct time. She was right when she set the time three hours early last night.

Humming her favorite tune, she pulled her hair into a messy bun and entered the shower.
