He forgot, again. It's not intentional, he's just busy. She'll understand, she always does.
He pulls into the driveway and turns the engine off. Deep breath. He climbs out of the car and heads towards the front door. Once inside he notices all the light are off. Not good, she's really mad this time. He slowly walks towards the back of the house, careful not to make a lot of noise in case she's asleep.
Once in front of the closed bedroom door he pauses, suddenly unsure if he should go inside or just sleep on the couch since she'll put him there anyway. Not that she's ever done that, but he knows he deserves it.
He slowly opens the door and looks inside, she's not there. Strange. He turns the lights on and looks around the room. There's no sign of her whereabouts. He walks towards the kitchen. No note. He glances at the clock, 11:00. It's late. Where is she?
He pulls his phone out deciding to call her. After what feels like a million rings he gets her voicemail. He hangs up, deciding not to leave a message. Debating what to do, he decides to change and wait.
1:00. Where is she? It's been several hours and no word, he's furious. How dare she? Suddenly he hears a car pull up. After a few seconds he hears loud laughing and her voice. "Bye, love you!' He hears her steps and the sound of keys.
She walks through the door and glances towards the couch. He glares. "Where were you?"
"Out." She walks towards the hallway, he stands to follow.
"Where? With who?" She makes it to the bedroom. "A club. Kagome and the girls. To have fun." She turns towards him. "You forgot. I sat waiting for god knows how long. I called Kagome and I don't know I was so upset. She said that she'd come by. We went out. I had fun."
"Rin I'm sorry." She sighs. "I know, you are every time. I just have to start expecting this."
"Rin I'll…" She puts her hand up. "I know, don't bother." She turns around and starts changing. He watches. She climbs into bed and he turns the lights off. He climbs in next to her and puts his arm around her. "Happy Birthday."
