I finished reading Divergent and I had to pick a song that describes the main character for an English project. One of my options was Reflection by Disney's Mulan. Now looking back on it I realized they are a lot alike.
A girl tries acting the way her family wishes her to and struggles to.
She realizes she will never meet her family's wishes of "the perfect daughter".
She leaves, changes her name, and joins an elite fighting group.
She starts at the bottom being the least respected and the weakest one there.
She does an impressive feat that impresses everyone.
She trains to become one of the best in the group.
She falls for the attractive instructor.
The instructor discovers a shocking secret about her.
A city goes under attack.
She, with some help from others, saves the city.
Now tell me, who am I talking about? If you guessed Tris, you're right, and if you guessed Mulan you're right. Basically both guesses are right. They sound similar, Right? Sure I can admit they have some differences about them, like Mulan is in the past and Tris is in the future, Mulan is in China and Tris is in Chicago, Mulan pretends to be a boy and Tris doesn't, Tris loses family members and friends while Mulan lost nothing, etc. Even though there's a lot of differences, there are just as many similarities.
