This letter has been on my Tumblr for a while, and I just realized that I could create a fic based on letters that the survivors and their children wrote to the victims of the Battle of Hogwarts. This is the first of an unknown-number of letters that will appear.

Disclaimer: I don't own any characters in this story. Just the letter. Everything else belongs to the amazing JK Rowling

Dear Uncle Fred,

How are you doing up there? I hope that you're happy, wherever you are.

Dad misses you. A lot. He always talks about you, and I can see how much he loves you. There are times that he would go to his room and cry. He thinks that I don't hear him, but I do.

I can't believe that I won't get to meet you. You and dad had the most amazing adventures together, or so he tells me. He's never actually told me about what you did together.

Dad considered closing the shop that you set up together, but Mom persuaded him otherwise. She said that you would want the shop to stay open. Uncle Ron worked there too, for a time, and then he left to be with Aunt Hermione.

I know that I won't live up to the name that Dad gave me, but I wish I could. I wish that I can make him smile again the way that you did. I wish that he and I can play pranks on people the way that you two did. But mostly, I wish that I can love him the way that you did.

~Fred
