"Magnus, what're you doin'?" Alec inquired. Magnus just raised an eyebrow and went back to dancing on the coffee table. The song I put a spell on you booming throughout the room.

Alec had gotten home late that night from hunting. He was met with a very drunk, very upset Magnus. He also got the beloved "silent treatment." When Magnus got upset, he didn't yell he just got drunk. It was something that drove Alec crazy.

He didn't know how long Magnus had been drinking or how much liquid intoxicated his mind. He could guess a few hours, because it was now 2am and Alec was suppose to be home at 12am.

Magnus suddenly jumped off the table, the loud THUMP snapped Alec out of his daze. Magnus dashed out of the room, his trench coat trailing behind him.

"Magnus!" Aledc called as he fell into step behind him. "Magnus!" He turned the corner to find the warlock in his study, looking for a certain beaker. "Magnus, come on. Lets go to bed." Magnus didn't even acknowledge him. Alec hated when he did that, when he made him feel invisible. A shattering sound brought Alec back to reality, it was followed by an agitated scream eminating from the warlock; who was bending down to pick the glass up with his bare hands. "Magnus! Stop." Alec boomed in a voice so commanding and so uncharacteristically filled with confidence that it made Magnus turn around. Seeing him head on, Alec could see the bags under his eyes and the dried tears resting on his cheeks.

"I can't." Magnus stated, speaking to him for the first time since Alec came home. His voice cracked and he could smell the alcohol from here.

"Why not?" Alec threw his hands up in a frustrated manner.

"I have to be ready." Magnus yelled.

"For what?"

"For next time, if you don't come home." Magnus's eyes shone with fresh tears.

"Magnus." Alec stated softly, his voice almost breaking. He reached out to tilt the warlocks face up so their eyes could meet. "I will always make it back to you."

"You don't know that. Not for sure." Magnus squeaked.

"Nothing is for sure. All I can do is promise you, that not even Jonathan Shadowhunter himself could keep me from making it home to you." He had never heard so much intensity in his own voice before.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too." Then Magnus was kissing him, with all the intensity and worry he had masked with alcohol. He didn't even care that Magnus's breath was stained with beer or some weird concoction Magnus had managed to cook up. He just knew that it felt good to kiss him.

They parted to catch their breaths and they pressed their foreheads together. Magnus's breath was coming out sharp, like he was struggling to breath.

"Magnus. You okay?"

"I'm dizzy." He answered after a while. He suddenly collapsed onto Alec.

"I got you. You're okay." He soothed rubbing his back. "I think it's time to go to bed." He picked the warlock up, bridal style (with little effort) and carried him to their room. Gently placing him on the bed, he took his cloak off and tucked him in. Kissing his forehead, he whispered. "Goodnight Magnus." Watching his love sleep he made the promise to himself that he would never come home late again. And he didn't. Well at least not without calling first.
