Took My Breath Away
Disclaimer: I don't own Legends of Zelda or the characters. If I did it would be bloodier.
Link was swimming around Lord Jabu Jabu with Princess Ruto, giggles filling the air as the two young kids flopped around in the water.
Only a day before Link had gone into the giant fish's belly and rescued the Zora princess; obtaining her prized possession. He meant to leave once he received the sapphire but the king insisted on him staying for a couple days. Fearing he would insult him if he didn't, Link agreed.
Ruto climbed onto one of the logs with Link right behind her.
"Lets jump in!" Ruto insisted.
"Okay! On three! One… two…" SPLASH!
They both leaped into the deep blue, sending waves into Lord Jabu Jabu.
After several seconds Link popped up out of the water laughing, expecting his Zora friend to join him. But she didn't'
Link looked around for Ruto. "Princess! Princess!" He called but received no response.
Was she caught on something?
The young boy dove into the water and saw the princess floating at the bottom. He swam towards her, confused.
Zoras can't drown. They have gills… She must be messing with me. He thought to himself.
Link rolled his eyes and decided to go along with it. He picked Ruto up and carried her to the surface. He swam to the shore near the front of the giant fish.
"Okay Ruto. Open up your eyes. I know you're messing with me." He said as he sat next to her limp body.
After a minute there was no response and Link began to panic. He couldn't be caught with a dead princess!
He pressed his ear against her chest, her heart was beating but she wasn't breathing.
"But you can't drown! YOU HAVE GILLS!" Link shouted at the unresponsive body.
Link had no time for logic. He pressed his lips against her own and tried to pump air into her body, but he never got the chance.
As soon as their lips met the princess came to life, surging her tongue into his open mouth and wrapping her arms around his head.
Link's eyes bulged and he tried to get away, but she was too strong.
"Let me go!" He attempted to shout, but it came out more like, "Lemgahgribb!"
A minute later Ruto let him go and they both gasped for air.
"What was that?" Link asked, knowing he would never be the same.
Ruto smirked, "You just took my breath away, Link."
She began to crawl towards him for more but he frantically got up and shouted, "COMING KING ZORA!"
He took off running towards the cave where the king had "called" him.
"Boys." She rolled her eyes and looked at Lord Jabu Jabu.
"You better not tell my father." She warned him.
The fish simply rolled his eyes. Years go by but the Zoras just keep getting weirder.
