This freeverse poem is written for LittleMissWesley's "Freeverse Song Challenge." My pairing is Cho/Oliver, and my song was James Blunt's "Stay the Night."

The sun is o u t

and I'm feeling pretty great

and the team, the team is gathered around

and the tents are on the [ g r o u n d ]

We're just a bunch of kids

out to have

fun

The twins are on the move

and I hear somebody laugh

(you)

and before I even realize

you're sitting in my tent,

laughing with the rest of us

And for a little while

We're just a bunch of kids

out to have

fun

A war isn't beginning

A battle won't be fought

We won't lose our [ f r i e n d s ]

We're just a bunch of kids

out to have

fun

Your hair falls [ a c r o s s ] your face

and the d i s t a n c e is too great

for me to reach out

and brushbrush it away

I wonder if you'd let me

just for a

moment

be the one to save you.

You still look so sad

I can see it in your [ e y e s ]

just for a

moment

I want to be the one to save you

from the loss.

And we're just a bunch of kids

out to have

fun

The World Cup starts tomorrow

I ask who you want to win

of course you root for Scotland

I mean, what did I expect?

and the others start to leave

but you stay here with me

talking&talking&talking

until the stars begin to fade

eclipsed by light from the

[ s u n ]

And more than ever now,

we're just a bunch -

just a few -

no, just two

kids

and we want to have

fun
