She knew she would never feel this way about another person. And now it was too late.
Sitting beside her limp body she never let go of her hand. Even as the paramedics tried to get her to stand up, she never let go of her hand. All the memories rushed through her head, all the fights, all the laughter and her last words to her that cut through her like knifes. "I hope he kills you first" Of course she didn't mean it, but it didn't really matter now did it. She would never be the same, and no one not even Lucas could heal the wound inside of her.
"You got to let go", Peyton looked up with tears streaming down her face. There he stood, the boy that was a part of the reason why their friendship got ruined, a part of the reason why the body of her best friend was lying still on the ground. And at that moment all she could feel for him was hatred. They would never be the same. She looked over to the guy standing next to him, her ex-boyfriend, and she that he was standing there thinking about. Haley tugged at her hand with a pleading voice saying "please, Peyton". Peyton looked up at her and saw a reflection of her own heartache, and she knew that Haley herself wasn't far behind on breaking down completely.
As Peyton let go of her hand, she felt the life run out of her as she dropped into the arms of those who loved her, and those who couldn't help her. Peyton closed her eyes as the tears poured down her face; she had lost the person that meant everything to her, the one person whom she had loved for almost her entire life, and she knew she would never forgive herself.
