Time goes on, whether it comes from the past or the present. In this case, the time goes on in the past. As we live our lives, we try to look after the future, but it is apparent that we must rely on our past as well. Though, nothing is quite like the present.

My life was fairly enjoyable. My mother was caring, my father was hilarious when he made my mother mad, or when they fought, and then I had my friends and cousins to look forward to. Uncle Sesshomaru was a very stern man, but he allowed for certain things. My cousins, Yuya and Yori, were fraternal twins, at least that is what mother calls them. Boy and girl identical twins. They were a lot alike.

My little sister, Kohana, cannot speak, and is only eleven. She was never able to cry, to sing, to laugh out loud. My mother was very sad for a very long time, but we discovered a new way of communicating with Kohana; sign language. It is easy once you get the hang of it.

My name is Naomi. That is what my father named me. My youngest sister is only three, and her name is Yuko. I am exactly sixteen years old, and will be seventeen soon.

I am hiding something from my parents. I am hiding the fact that my powers are different, abnormal. I feel alive though when I use my powers. I can control and manipulate water into whatever shape or form that I want. I call it waterbending. I am also working on bending the liquid inside of an object, or a thing, or even a person. I've mastered it on animals; it is called bloodbending when I use it on a living thing. But I have found out that I can only use this on a full moon, which is sad, but I have realised that it is when my powers are at their peak.
