This is an answer to a challenge in livejournal where the challenge was to write a story that contained words that were only one-syllable. Let me tell you, this is hard work. You wouldn't have realized this, but a lot of the words we use daily are MORE than one-syllable. This took me forever to write. The words we weren't allowed to use were: 'love', 'walked', 'you', 'hurt', 'eat/food' or 'said'

I had this dream once. I dreamt of a green-gold snake that flew through the vast sky, and down to the stream that gleamed with white balls of light; its scales flashed with the drops it picked up from the rain. I dreamt of a child-me on its back as I laughed with glee.
As I dreamt though, I knew that this had not come to pass when I was still young; that it was not true.
This was a dream that I made up.
When I woke up, I thought it no more.

"I hate-"
"Don't say it."
"Why can't I!"
"I don't want to hear it. I know what your mouth would have liked to say."
"Great! Then I won't have to waste my time."
"…That's good to know."
"Good!"
"Good."
"I don't want to see your face or hear your voice. This is good bye."

She walks down the street and leaves him to sit on the cold, stone bench. The trees swayed in the slight wind.
A sad, soft voice is heard when she fades into the far-off snow, "I know…I know." He knew she was gone from his life.
The boy's teal-black hair swayed in the breeze; his bright green eyes watched her as she went out of his life, just as she did when she was only a child on his back as she laughed with glee.

The dream she had, was not just a dream…it was her past. When she strolled out of his life, she did not know that her past would be locked with a key and chain. She would not learn of the truth, in this life span. This is what the gods' plans have for her.

Ok, I'm not sure how this went out. Anyway, the girl was Chihiro and the boy was Kohaku.
If you find any words that have more than one syllable, please tell me so that I can change it. Thanks.
As always, read and tell me what you think!
