To my Beloved Toriel,
How are you? I hope you haven't been too lonely.
It's been so long since we last saw each other. I miss you so much.
If you're reading this letter, that can only mean one thing: you've come home, but something has happened to me and therefore I cannot greet you in person. So I'll say it now: welcome home.
With me gone, I know our people are going to want a new leader. I can't think of anyone better suited than you. You are strong and brave, wise, kind, loving and nurturing… everything I failed to be.
If the human souls are gone and the barrier is still up, that means that those humans died for nothing, just like our precious children. Truth be told, I don't want a repeat of that. I declared war on the humans because that gave the people hope, but I deeply regret all the senseless death. But perhaps, you can do better. What the people want is for the barrier to be destroyed, but perhaps you can come up with a plan that will keep the people hopeful without the need for any killing.
I hope that didn't come across as sardonic or passive-aggressive. I truly believe in you, Tori, and that is why I would be honored if you were to take the throne.
Also, I want you to know that I still love you. Even if you hate me now, I love you. Even if you never forgive me for what I've done, I love you with all of my heart.
But then, I have no idea what you've been doing since you left. For all I know, you may have found another man. If so, I hope he treats you well, as you deserve. I hope he makes you happier than I ever could.
But if not, then I remain hopeful that I may see you again. Perhaps you will change your mind and come home before I die, in which case this letter will not be needed. Or perhaps I will simply watch over you from the afterlife. I suppose only time will tell.
Sincerely,
Asgore Dreemurr
