Author's Note:
Hello and welcome to the first chapter of Prisoner of a Raven! I find it to be quite an honor that you would even consider to read my story and I encourage you to continue reading if you enjoy it. That being said, there are (of course) a few things I would like to clarify about this story before it begins and if you don't particularly care, then you can skip right ahead to the "Chapter 1" Marking. Enjoy.
As far as setting goes, this story will begin very close to where the cannon Shippuden begins: Characters ages are approximately sixteen years old. The actual events of this story begin near the beginning/middle of the Gaara Rescue Arc, and while this arc will be referenced, it will not actually be shown (because the story takes place elsewhere)
For the most part, I will attempt to follow the basic storyline of Naruto Shippuden, however there will be a few small AU elements (which I intend to warn you of at the beginning of the chapters where AU takes place). These elements may slightly affect how certain things turn out, but don't worry, it wont be a huge deal.
Most people tend to dislike OCs and they are completely justified (as most original characters are horribly written: beautiful, powerful, flawless). I will try my best to keep my OC realistic and moderately powered. Obviously some things that happened to her (childhood ect) may seem to be "mary sue" however i try to keep all of these elements within a realistic boundary of what may actually happen in Naruto. Well... you'll understand when we get there.
Quite obviously, I do not own Naruto or any of the characters of Naruto (minus my OC)
Finally, I apologize for any spelling/grammar errors. Sometimes I just don't catch them when I'm going over the chapters and if you really want to bring them to my attention, i beg of you to PM me rather than leaving it as a review!
Speaking of reviews... I don't want to sound greedy or as if I am begging for attention, however receiving reviews from my readers truly makes my day brighter! Not only that, but reviews tend to give me the motivation to continue on with my stories and they just make me so happy :) reviews are good for everyone! So even if you only have a word or two to comment, I really, honestly do appreciate the time you put into reviewing and I encourage you to continue writing them for authors everywhere!
SO without further ado, here is my story!~
Chapter 1
"We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark;
the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light."
-Plato
"Another one?" snorted Sasuke Uchiha, rolling his eyes in annoyance. "Haven't you given up yet? I told you that I don't want to do this anymore." Sasuke crossed his arms over his chest, leaning his weight against one of the stone walls in Orochimaru's hide out.
Orochimaru smirked gleefully, "Oh, but Sasuke," he enticed, "this one is special, I had to travel quite a long way to find her. You're in for quite a treat!"
"Oh?" Sasuke began sarcastically, already irritated with the sannin. "This nonsense is beginning to cut into our training. I'm finished wasting my time with this project." He tweaked his eyebrows, shooting a glare at the floor.
Orochimaru chuckled darkly, "Only you, Sasuke, would have the nerve to disrespect me. Clearly me training you isn't enough to earn your respect. Perhaps this may change your mind, hm?" He gave a sharp tug on the metal chain he held in his hand, yanking forward a young girl who had been trailing behind him, and causing her to stumble into the light of the dim hallway.
Sasuke thought that she looked to be sixteen or seventeen, about his age, much like all the other girls Orochimaru had "so graciously" captured. The girl's face was gaunt and narrow, half covered by several locks of dark hair; her black, lifeless eyes stared unseeingly at her feet. Her body was scrawny, and dried blood had scabbed over the skin of her wrists where shackles had dug into them. Sasuke, unimpressed, looked the girl over once and then dismissed her from his sight.
Sasuke shifted his eyes back up towards Orochimaru. "What's so special about it?" He asked, his lip slightly curled. A breif flicker of anger crossed the girls face at being referred to as "it", but the emotion faded as quickly as it had come.
"Oh, of course you can't tell, silly me," Orochimaru chuckled again, "I forgot that I had sealed away her chakra." At those words, Sasuke's eyes were drawn to a strange circular device attached to the girl's chest that he hadn't noticed before. "Let me remove my device, surely then you'll change your mind about her!" Orochimaru reached out one hand towards the metal attachment, took hold of the device, and turned it to the left, releasing it from the girl's chest with a soft click.
Immediately, the girl thrust her leg forward in an attempt to kick Orochimaru away from her. Orochimaru easily caught her leg in the air and twisted it, causing her to loose her balance and fall hard onto her back. The impact of her fall forced the air from her lungs. She wheezed for a short moment moment and then rose back to her feet, lifting her hands in an attempt to make signs. She could hardly begin before Sasuke had clasped both of her thin wrists in one hand, yanking them above her head and pinning her hands against the wall of the hallway. The whole event took place in a matter of seconds.
"Feisty, isn't she?" Orochimaru smirked, bringing one hand to his chin and admiring his specimen.
"She's too much trouble," Sasuke noted, sounding bored, still holding the girl's wrists to the wall. "I don't see why you took her of all people."
"You still can't tell?" Orochimaru's grin stretched wider across his face, his yellow eyes glowing in excitement. "How about you take another look at her."
Sasuke, supremely annoyed, shifted his glance towards the girl once more. What he saw made a cold chill run down his spine; the hairs on his arms stood on end. Furiously glaring daggers at him were two bright red Sharingan eyes.
Sasuke's shock quickly turning into anger as he pivoted towards Orochimaru. "Where did you find her?" the Uchiha demanded.
"That's for me to know," chucked Orochimaru, licking his lips ever so slightly "and for you to not worry about."
"Will you stop laughing!" shouted Sasuke, his face growing hot with rage.
"Watch your temper, Uchiha." Orochimaru teased, his sick grin never leaving his face. "Why don't you stop yelling at me and thank me instead? After all, I've brought you the means with which to revive your clan! If I remember correctly, your main complaint about the women I had so graciously brought to you before was that they were not Uchihas. You ought to be kissing my feet right now!" Orochimaru approached the girl, still smiling, and reached his arm out towards her abdomen, twisting the chakra suppressing device back in place on her chest. Her body slumped out of Sasuke's hands and onto the floor, the metal chains attached to each of her wrists jingled.
Sasuke, ignoring the girl on the floor, kept his serious stare on Orochimaru. His voice lowered slightly, "How do you even know she's an Uchiha?"
"Did you not see her Sharingan?" Orochimaru asked rhetorically, his voice was dull.
Sasuke took a deep breath through his nose to calm his temper. "She could have gotten the eyes some other way. From...a birth defect or a transplant. Just because she has the Sharingan doesn't mean she's an Uchiha."
"Sasuke," Orochimaru sighed at the boy's stubbornness, "I tested her blood myself the day I found her. She is certainly from your clan."
Sasuke narrowed his eyes. He didn't understand why exactly he felt angry or why he didn't want to believe what his sensei had just said. Sasuke was completely aware that Orochimaru had a talent for dappling with human DNA. If anyone could successfully identify the girl's heritage, it was Orochimaru. But how could there be another Uchiha? Sasuke was convinced that it wasn't possible- Itachi had made no mistakes when terminating the clan.
Orochimaru, noticing Sasuke's coldness towards the situation, clarified, "Of course, I don't intend for you to procreate tonight. The girl is weak and unhealthy. She wouldn't mother good children in her current state. Besides, there are several tests I would like to preform beforehand to determine her desirable and unwanted genes and isolate them accordingly." The sannin stopped talking before he went any farther. He tried to keep from babbling about human experimentation around Sasuke- the boy was simply disinterested.
Lost in thought, Sasuke looked down at the girl, taking notice of her dark blue hair and pale complexion- traits commonly found in Uchihas. The girl glared at him like a feral animal. Sasuke sneered back at her and then turned his gaze back up towards Orochimaru, stating, "I am going to bed." He promptly turned his heel and walked away, dissappearing into the darkness of the hallway.
Orochimaru smiled and crouched down so that he was face to face with the young girl. He cupped her chin with his cold, pasty fingers and hissed, "Oh, my little Uchiha, do we have big plans for you."
Thank you for reading the first chapter of my story! I really hoped you like it :)
Please review if you can :) it really does make a huge difference and it helps keep me going!
