Imaginary Friend
Kasumi lied unresponsively on a tree, perched on one of the tree's many branches, looking out into the night sky. Kasumi had isolated herself in the forest, closing her heart out to everything and everyone and keeping to herself. She had long since stopped worrying over anything concerning her clan or anything otherwise.
It has been ten long, painful, excruciating years since Kasumi was exiled and deemed traitor. Ten long years of solitary confinement. Ten long years of silence. Ten long years of emotional and physical pain.
Kasumi stared up at the twinkling moon, smiling sorrowfully as pulled herself to her feet. Kasumi wished that she could be the moon; the moon never had anything to worry about. The moon just sits there in peace and serenity, ignorant to the rest of the world and their troubles, never having to worry about being hunted or hated.
Kasumi flashed her brown eyes over the expanse of land, nothing was in sight but trees that Kasumi knew would stretch for miles. Kasumi had abandoned all types of life a while back and resided in the forests around Japan. Kasumi preferred the peace and serenity that came along with the forests and has come to terms with solitude.
Kasumi thought back to her days as a shinobi of the Mugen Tenshin and the day she had decided to leave to avenge her brother. Kasumi knew that she would never be able to change what was going to be done but now that she looked back, she thought herself stupid if she thought that she would ever be accepted into the clan after that little stunt.
Life was lonely.
Kasumi jumped from the branch she occupied and launched herself onto a different branch on a different tree. Kasumi could remember that when she was five, she would always sneak around with her friend, her best friend.
Her imaginary friend
Kasumi smiled faintly at the memory of her imaginary friend, her best friend, Yahagara. Kasumi chuckled faintly when she remembered those silly little nickname they had for each other: Umi and Yaya.
Kasumi could remember the times when Yahagara was there, even when everybody else was not. Kasumi and Yahagara has a special connection she knew she would never forget. Yahagara was strange, in a good way and always warm and welcoming, always there to comfort.
Standing atop a branch of a lower tree, Kasumi's eyes over looked the small clearing provided by the river, her eyes skimming across the land for any signs of danger when the bushed below her rustled.
Kasumi looked down, watching as the bushed separated and revealed a younger, much happier her. Kasumi's eyes brightened and her smiled widened as she watched herself being chased around by Yahagara, little Kasumi being tackled to the floor and tickled. The pair slowly faded and was replaced by an older pair of children, sitting and braiding found flowers into little crowns. Kasumi remembered that day vividly, that being the day Yahagara kissed her for the first time. It was a small, friendly kiss on the cheek, but it meant more to Kasumi. These memories seemed all too real to be fake, but Kasumi didn't care, at least for the moment she was happy.
For the moment, she could pretend that everything is okay, and that she was still a little girl at home playing with her imaginary friend.
I was sitting at home listening to going to make this into a story and not a one-shot, I'm still not sure if I want to or not, but if I do end up changing it into a story, do you guys think I should use this document and add to it or just leave it is and just make a new one? Review with your thoughts and what you think. Hope you enjoyed this short-one shot.
