Disclaimer: Yup. I still have Konomi-sensei's playground commandeered. Dunno if he'll ever get it back.
A/N: I needed to write this while it was still in my head. It should be easy who's POV it is, and who it's about. Any ideas?
There were some things that he really didn't understand. On the courts, his senpai could be so mean and cruel - especially his fukubuchou - but outside the courts, they were kind and protective, somewhat. He didn't know how he should have reacted to that. In the presense of others, it was like he didn't matter at all - like he was just some piece of garbage that no one cared to even pick up when littered around. He would be good in the beginning, but in the end, he'd end up right back on the ground, like any other day. And he hated it, all of it. He didn't want to be used, crumpled up, and thrown away.
But outside, it was like he was free. They watched over him protectively - one with a simple smile, the other with a massive deathglare - and they'd make sure he got no injuries from anything (the one that would end up injuring him outside of tennis would get the beating of a lifetime, if it came down to it). He liked the protection, he liked when they cared. . .but it got a little too excessive at times. It oftentimes made him want to run away for dear life. He wanted to live his life, not cower in front of teammates that were only a year older than him.
Though now, through times like this - times when he was alone with the two of them - he didn't mind being protected. The warmth of their bodies around him kept him safe and calm. The trembling in his limbs because of fright had seeped away, and he allowed himself to relax. Here - in the silence of the night, the warmth of their bed - he didn't mind it at all. Actually, he somewhat lived for moments like this; lived for moments when all he could hear was his own steady breathing, and the timed heartbeats of his senpai. It felt right. It felt right watching the two chests rise and fall with every breath they took. And it felt right as the two pairs of arms around his chest and waist tightened, never about to let go. He would never have it any other way.
Reviews are lovely.
