Smile:

It started with a smile. Here he had just killed a man by drinking his blood in front of this child and the boy's response is to smile at him.

Fear:

Shinji may be a problem, Kei thinks. His eyes hold none of the love or good natured acceptance that Sho's and Toshi's do. They hold only fear.

Discipline:

Kei has never tried to discipline either Shinji or Toshi, though he thinks Toshi at least, would let him. Sho on the other hand, is a different matter. He wants the boy to be around for awhile, and considering his rather fool hardy tendencies; he needs to instill some discipline in the boy now, if he wants the boy to live.

Hug:

He tries fall down to Shinji's level of one-up-manship, who got the most of Sho's attention, but he can't help but feel smug, when long after Sho has begun shying away from his brothers hugs, being too old for that, he still happily returns Kei's.

Voice:

Sho hasn't spoken in a weak, and Kei is getting worried. Sho won't tell him whats wrong either, won't even write it down. Kei misses his voice. Then comes the night when Toshi steals Sho's new coat from the back of his chair, the boy launches himself at his laughing friend, misses and tries again, finally breaking his silence. Toshi! It would have been a relief, and it was, but it was also heart wrenchingly funny and saddening when Kei heard that noticeable crack, going from low to high very quick. Sho blushes and Toshi, getting over his shock, laughs even harder.

Uh-oh:

Uh-oh is what Kei thinks when Kei watches the group of girls watching Sho, the boy oblivious of course, but it still makes something in Kei's stomach twist uncomfortably.

Close:

Shinji's dislike and fear of him has only increased over the years. Kei wants to beat the stupid man over the head, if he could get over himself and would stop making every conversation he and Sho had about how much a monster Kei was then he and Sho would still be as close as they had been, instead Shinji keeps obliviously driving a wedge between them.

Trapped:

Kei feels guilty, as he looks at Sho's pale skin, almost as pale as his own, the boy should get out more, see more of the daylight wolrd, and yet he stays in their apartment day after day, only occasionally venturing outside. Kei wonders if he feels trapped.

Girl:

Kei isn't sure what he feels, when he realizes that at long last a girl has caught Sho's attention. Yi-Che is the very opposite of the over emotional boy. Sho expresses every emotion that he feels, loudly, Yi-Che seems to pretend that she doesn't have any most of the time. Yet it is this quiet girl that has caught his Sho's eye. To be honest she's caught his as well, but he isn't even going to go there.

Death:

Toshi's death marks the end of an era for all of them. This death has driven any vestiges of the child Kei knew from Sho's eyes.

Leaving:

He waits until after the funeral to do anything but nothing will stop him from leaving now. Sho no longer needs him and with Toshi gone the buffer between he and Shinji has vanished, Shinji naturally blames the boy's death on him and Kei finds he agrees with him this time.

Face:

He strokes Sho's face gently as the boy sleeps, in sleep he is still the child that he met all those years ago.

Gone:

When Sho wakes to find Kei gone, he doesn't cry, well, not much anyway. Instead he squares his shoulders and quietly stores all his Kei related memories in the back of his mind. He dry's his eyes, knowing that this will be the last time he cries so freely, he takes Kei's departure as a sign. It's time to grow up.
