Daylight

After they had spacebridged back to earth, the Autobot guardians were ordered to take their charges home. Miko and Raf, instead, made clear their choice to use the groundbridge. That left both Jack and Arcee. She transformed without saying a word, let Jack get on, and took off in the direction of the Darby residence.

In the wake of their departure, Ratchet remarked to Optimus, "Optimus, it is my opinion that, because of young Jack, she will either not want to leave, or will not want to stay on Cybertron for long."

"Your opinion is noted, old friend," he replied.

After they entered the garage, Arcee transformed, barely allowing enough time for Jack to dismount. Although he didn't mind, he was getting used to it.

She sat on the floor next to the wall as Jack closed the garage door. He walked up and sat right next to her without saying a word.

He never left that spot. Not even to eat or drink. How could he? He was losing someone who he considered his best friend the next day.

Eventually, he fell asleep, and leaned against Arcee in a deep, dreamless slumber.

Arcee knew she would have to leave him sooner than she would have liked. She mentally asked, why am I holding on? No one answered her.

She knew this day would come eventually, and she figured Jack did too. Ever since she opened up to him she knew she would have to leave him.

But why now? How did this come so fast? She asked again, and again received no answer.

She noticed that Jack was in a deep sleep, and then she did something she would have never done before: she picked up his dormant form, and cradled him in her arms.

She talked to his still-sleeping form, "Jack, this is our last night together, I want it to be my most memorable." She knew he probably couldn't hear her.

She looked at a nearby timepiece; it read 12:55 AM. She knew she should power-down, but tried not to. She knew if she powered up afterward, she would have to slip away.

Unbeknownst to Jack, Arcee started to talk to him again, "Jack when the daylight comes I'll have to go, but tonight I'm going to hold you close to me." She paused, and continued in her processor, because in the daylight we'll be on our own, but tonight I need to hold you so close.

She stayed there, staring at Jack sleeping perfectly in her arms, and remarked, "He's so beautiful! How did I not notice his organic perfection?"

When she looked up, she found the sky was getting bright, and the stars were disappearing, seemingly burning out. She wished someone could slow it down and give her more time with Jack.

She never wanted to stop her friendship with him, if for any other reason; she didn't want to start all over. Long ago, she used to dislike the dark and the shadows, but now that's all she wanted.

"This is too hard Jack," she said again, not realizing he was starting to wake up, "because I know when the sun comes up, I'll leave." She looked down at him, her last glance that would soon be memory…

Jack opened his eyes and saw Arcee looking at him. He was about to sorrowfully greet, when he noticed that she was cradling him in her arms.

Both optics and eyes simultaneously widened in shock.

A/N- I would first off like to thank Detective Rysposito and Galaxy Fiction for inspiring this one-shot. You guys were great!

I'd like to mention the fact that I did use the song Daylight by Maroon 5 as the foundation for my work. You probably saw a few lyrics in there.

That's all for now, see ya guys next time!
