Brunette antlers glinted in the bright, early morning light of the meadow. Bambi, Prince of the Forest, sprinted through the thigh-high grass in an attempt to lose the mountain cougar on his tail. It was growling and hissing hungrily. The half-grown buck hoped that that it would give up and return to the higher mountain caves that the family of cougars called home, otherwise he would be forced to kill the animal in order to protect the other animals in the meadow.
The sounds of paws rushing through foliage slowly faded away with a frustrated huff from the feline. Bambi continued running until he could camouflage himself at the tree line. There he waited and watched, ever vigilant, as the large cat stalked back the way it had come. Bambi felt his heart swell with relief at the knowledge that he had been saved from killing a fellow creature.
Shaking his head, the Prince turned and sauntered towards the meeting place where Thumper and Flower would be waiting. It was a beautiful day in the forest where danger and friendship lived.
