"Goodnight" Morgan proceeded to the elevator and everyone shortly followed except Elle and Hotch. He noticed that she hadn't left with the others.
"I thought you would have left with them"
"Yeah, but this case is really bugging me. I wont be able to sleep with it on my mind" she looked away from him and pulled out papers from a folder. Hotch went back into his office and they didn't speak to one another for a few more minutes. Elle looked at her cell phone and it was past 11p.m.
"You can't stay here all night" he said sternly. She gave him a quick glance before looking back at some papers. "Lets go" he grabbed her wrist and pulled her on her feet. After a few moments of struggling out of his grip she had rescued her wrist. He grabbed her wrist only this time, more tightly.
"Can I at least get my stuff?" she looked annoyed and he let go of her wrist. She placed folders in her bag and reluctantly followed Hotch. They walked into the elevator and Elle watched the numbers display. 4.3.2. Then the elevator came to a abrupt halt. The jolt caused Hotch to drop the file in his hand and Elle to fall to the ground.
"I think were stuck" Hotch offered his hand and she took it. Elle reached into her bag for her phone so she could call someone but finds out she left it in the BAU. Hotch pulled his phone out of his pocket but saw it was dead.
"I hope we start moving sometime soon" she looked at him in silence with her arms folded across her chest. Fifteen minutes passed, then thirty, then sixty. "Holy crap, I'm gonna die in this damn elevator" Elle felt herself grow more and more drowsy as the minutes passed. Hotch smirked at the comment and saw her trying not to fall asleep in the elevator.
"I cannot believe I am spending my night in an elevator" he sat down and hung his head back, thinking about Haley and how worried she probably was. "Care to sit down?"
"I suppose" she sat next to him and could feel her eyelids trying to close. Overcome by sleep, her body won her mind and she fell asleep with her head resting on Hotch's shoulder. He rested his head against the wall and let sleep consume him as well.
Gideon was first to the elevator and pushed the button, expecting it to take a couple of seconds. About twenty seconds passed and it didn't open so he pressed the up button again and it opened but only the bottom of the elevator shaft was visible. It took a couple of seconds for him to see legs, and legs meant people. But who was stuck in the elevator? He pushed the down button once more and the elevator jolted down so he could clearly see who was there? "Elle? Hotch?"
They were instantly awoken by the elevator. "Gideon?" they said simultaneously.
"Have you been in here all night?" he was worried about them and wondered how they could be trapped in an elevator all night. Elle nodded and Gideon walked in pulling them to their feet, Elle then Hotch. "You guys look exhausted.
"You try sleeping in an elevator, then come talk to me" Elle snapped at him.
"I'd rather not. But you two should have the day off. I'll drive you guys home"
"But what about that case?" Hotch asked.
"I'll take it. Don't worry you two look like you could use some rest" Gideon assured him. They piled into his car and Gideon looked over to Elle then to Hotch and saw them passed out.
