Pens
Rory was running around the apartment she and Jess shared in New York since they had gotten married four years ago and added on another addition to the Gilmore-Mariano clan. It was eight at night and Rory had a stroke of inspiration. "Jess!"
"What?" He yelled from the other room.
"I can't find a pen!"
"Where have you looked?"
"Everywhere! I can't find one!"
"Sara must have been hiding them again."
Sara was three and had a fascination with hiding random objects. She was the love of Rory and Jess' lives, but sometimes she could get on their nerves.
"Sara!"
Sara came running into the kitchen in her pajamas with a book and her stuffed bear that her Grandma Lorelai gave her for her third birthday, as well as, a ton of other things that grandmothers always insist on spoiling their grandkids with. "Yes, Mommy?"
Sara had her dad's curly brown hair and her mom's classic blue eyes. She inherited the look of intimidation and sarcasm from her dad. She got her studiousness and wit from her mom. She obviously got both of her parents' love of books.
"Where did you put all of Mommy's pens?" Rory asked calmly.
"I don't remember." Sara said sleepily and yawned.
"Are you tired?" Rory said chuckling.
"No!" Sara exclaimed.
"Okay then, go back to your room and do what you were doing."
"Okay Mommy." She said and ran off.
"Jess!" Rory yelled.
"Did she tell you where she hid them?" He said walking into the room.
"No. She said she forgot."
"Do you want to go to the office supply store?"
"It's too late now!"
"Rory it's eight o'clock."
"Exactly."
"Hon, its Saturday."
"It is?"
"Yeah."
"Well, in that case, let's go!"
"Okay, but we only have one problem."
"What?"
"Sara."
"We can take her with us."
"Are you sure? She seems tired."
"Yeah, she'll be fine. Here go ask her if she wants to go."
"Okay." He said and went into Sara's room.
"Sara?" He asked.
"Hi Daddy!"
"Sara, Mommy wants to know if you want to go to the office supply store to get pens."
"Yeah! I like it there!" She exclaimed.
"Okay, get dressed."
"Daddy?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I wear my pajamas to the store?" She said with the classic Gilmore pout.
"I guess." He said immediately giving in to the pout.
"Yay!" She said and ran to get her shoes.
Jess walked back into the living room where Rory sat typing furiously on the computer. "What did she say?" Rory asked.
"She's getting her shoes on and she conned me into letting her leave her pajamas on."
"Good for her." She said with a chuckle.
The small family piled into the car and was shortly on the way to the office supply store with little Sara in her pajamas in the back reading a book.
When they got there, Sara anxiously got out of the car and stood next to it waiting for her parents to get out.
"Let's go!" She exclaimed.
"We're coming!" Rory and Jess exclaimed in unison.
They walked into the store, Jess and Sara walking hand-in-hand behind an on-a-mission Rory.
Rory retrieved her pens and turned around to see Jess holding Sara on his hip with her head on his shoulder asleep. "Aww." She said. "Let's go."
They paid for the pens and went back to the car. When Jess put Sara back into her car seat, she stirred and awoke. "Can we get coffee?" She asked half asleep.
"You've been hanging around your Grandma Lorelai for too long." Jess said.
