This is my first Avatar fic so be kind!

Sokka was desperate. He had to get something to eat, he just had too. It wasn't just about the food. Ever since Toph came along he felt more and more useless. They all had these amazing bending abilities and he was just a man with a boomerang. He froze as he heard something near the bushes.

"Who's there?"

Zuko jumped out, yelling. This was his chance. He had recoginzed Sokka, he was with the Avatar. He could FINALLY regain his honor. Sokka yelled, terror in his face as he stumbled to grab a sword. He was too late.

He yelled, this time in pain, as he felt the sword go into his chest.

"WHERE'S the Avatar?" Zuko pulled the sword out and pressed it against Sokka's neck. Sokka scrambled for a weapon, but Zuko pressed his feet against Sokka's hand to keep him from grabbing the sword.

"WHERE is he?" He roared.

"I'll never tell you,"Sokka growled. He felt the pain driving into his chest.

"Very well," hissed Zuko, tired of being a coward. Of being weak. He knew Azula would kill this man if she had a chance, so he could as well.

"Zuko!" His Uncle's voice, sharp and cold, was heard across from him. He nearly dropped the sword.

"Uncle?"

"Drop it!" His Uncle demanded.

"NO! He is our Enemy! We are supposed to kill our enemies! It's what Father would do! And Azula!"

"Your father also gave you that scar!"

Zuko touched it bitterly.

"And Azula would kill you, if she had the chance!"

Zuko pursed his lips and Sokka shuddered underneath him.

"Do they sound like honorable people?" Uncle shouted. "It is never okay for anyone to take another person's life! We are all connected to each other! Every life is precious! Now DROP the sword!" Dissapointment filled his voice which stung Zuko more than he thought it would.

He dropped the sword. The Uncle knelt beside Sokka.

"I am sorry for my Nephew," he said. "He is confused at the moment."

"No I'm not," Zuko growled softly. The Uncle said nothing. Sokka winced in pain.

"It's okay, REALLY." He started to get up. "In fact I'll just forget this ever happened." He collapsed and Iroh caught him.

"I don't think you'll be walking anytime soon," he said gently.

"What are we going to do with him?" Demanded Zuko. Sokka gulped.

"Yeah, what are you going to do with me?"

"Do? Nothing." Sokka sighed in relief and Zuko looked angry.

"We should make him talk!" His knuckles tightened. "We should force him to tell us where The Avatar is!"

"He is a loyal friend of the Avatars," Iroh said. "We well take care of him, we well show him kindness, and later on perhaps he well show us kindness in return. Perhaps the Avatar well realize we are not like your Father or Azula."

"You should listen to him..."Sokka started to say and Zuko glared at him.

"Shut up!"

"Zuko! Is this any way to treat a guest?"

"He isn't a guest! He's my prisonor!"

"I like the sound of guest better," Sokka volunteered. He ignored the blood that was now dripping onto his legs.

"Why did you follow me? No one asked for your help,"Zuko added angrily.

"I followed you in case you needed help. You obviously do since you were about to take another person's life." The Uncle's voice was serious. Zuko sighed and finally knelt towards Sokka's level. Sokka winced and jerked away.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you." He lookd at the Uncle. "Can you stitch him up?"

"I think so," Iroh said and before Sokka could protest he scooped him up. "Come on, let's make camp for the night."

Relunctantly Zuko followed.

I really hope I got the characters down, especially Sokka.
