Nathan was sleeping fitfully when a noise in his bedroom woke him up. He never slept soundly anymore, not since Duke and Audrey went into the barn. He reached over to the night table for his gun, which was always within easy reach, as he was getting the bearings. He holds the gun, his body tense, ready to take action once he found the source of the noise.

He thought he must be hallucinating, as there, by the door, stood Audrey.

"Audrey?" He asked, unsure of himself.

"Nathan, it's me, I needed to come back." She responded.

She moved towards the bed and in typical Audrey fashion, she reached out to for his forearm, touching him so that he knows it is her when he feels her. As soon as she touches him, sensations run up and down his arm and he releases the tension from his body and lowers his gun.

"But how? You and Duke we…" Audrey cuts him off with a kiss and tells him "I had to come back, I had to see you."

While she is talking, she is moving to straddle Nathan where he sits on the bed. She kisses him again, this time more intently. Nathan immediately responds and deepens the kiss. Audrey pushes him down on the bed and starts feathering light kisses on his cheek, down his neck and on his chest.

"I've missed you" Nathan gasps out as he is overwhelmed by the sensations Audrey is stirring in him.

"How are you back?" He still can't believe she is with him.

Through her kisses she responds, "I….had to…come back…I…forgot something."

She moves back to capture his lips before he has time to say anything more. Nathan runs his fingers through her hair and pulls her as close to him as he can.

Suddenly, he feels a sharp pain in his chest and Audrey moves away from him to stand at the end of the bed. In her hand, still beating is his heart.

"In 27 years Nathan, I'll bring it back" And then she just disappears.

Nathan gasps for breath as he sits up, covered in sweat, he puts his hand to his chest, but has to look down when he can't feel it. Sure enough, he's still in one piece; there is no hole in his chest.

He tries to get his breathing under control as he runs his hands through his hair. It was just a dream, no, a nightmare. The same one he has had every night since Audrey left.

In 27 years maybe his nightmare will end.
