This takes place after Red John is dead and gone.

He lay on his couch feigning sleep. The rest of the team had gone out for lunch. He chose not to go using the excuse that he was too tired. The guys nodded and the girls looked at him with concern. One in particular waited until everyone left to show her concern.

In truth, he hadn't slept the night before. He suffered from insomnia but it had gotten better lately. Last night had been different. Last night he had to make a decision. His actions today could change his life drastically. His thoughts circled around his past and the present. Would he be betraying anyone? Was he allowed to have this…again?

The good memories from his past came flooding in last night. The ones he wanted to remember, the ones that made him smile. After Red John had been killed (by none other than the ever faithful Cho) he lost all purpose for life. That was until she showed up at his door late one night. She was definitely NOT going to let him wallow. She could be very convincing at times. At 4am he made his decision and immediately went to work to set his plan in motion.

Now, he lay on his couch waiting for the team to return. He heard the distinct sound of footsteps and one man's voice. He smiled as he recognized the determined step of one individual. He forced himself to lay absolutely still. He closed his eyes, continuing to pretend to sleep.

They quieted down as they walked into the bullpen. She gave some last minute orders before walking into her office. She chuckled to herself because of the way her team walked on eggshells around him. She knew that he wasn't really asleep, but she let him have his fun.

She opened her office door and sat down at her desk. She stared at the offending object in the middle of her desk. Well it wasn't actually visually offending, just sitting-in-the-middle-of-her-desk offending.

The origami frog brought a smile to her face. She gingerly picked it up after a few seconds just to make sure it didn't jump. Sitting underneath was something shiny. Shiny? Okay now she was curious. She picked up the object to find a note attached to it. Once the initial shock passed she recognized the shiny object as a ring with a note attached.

The ring was beautiful. It was silver and had a diamond center with an emerald on either side. Her hands were shaking as she fumbled with the note. Finally, she got it open and the words written on it shocked her. She immediately recognized the masculine calligraphy and chuckled at his ingenuity. Of course he would find an outlandish way to propose. He wasn't well known for being traditional.

Still smiling, she read the note Will you marry me? with the instructions that said circle yes or no. She circled the appropriate word and slipped the ring in her pocket. There was no way she was going to make this easy for him.

She put on her best ticked off face and stormed out of her office, mentally thanking her lucky stars that the blinds on the windows had been closed so she could pull this stunt. She made sure to slam her door on the way out of her office. Storming over to where he lay she threw the refolded note at him. She turned back to her office and made sure to slam the door again. Once sitting at her desk she took the ring back out of her pocket. As she slid it on her finger she instantly loved the feel of it.

He watched her leave; once she was back in her office he opened the note. "YES!" came out of his mouth before he could stop it. Everyone in the bullpen turned to look at him and he sheepishly lay back down. Ten minutes later he could not wait any longer; he got up and went to talk to his fiancé.
