Disclamer: I own only the character, Elena. I also own the story. Everything else belongs to J.K. Rowling.

Chapter 1: The accident

Raven black hair flying loose, Elena dived and feinted on her broom. Clutching the bright red quaffle under her arm, she sped faster than possible towards the three goals.

'Almost there!' she thought. That realization was cut short, however, when she looked down and saw an evil, black blugger coming straight at her. Behind it was Draco Malfoy, still in the act of following through his hit. There was a loud smack…louder than it should have been. The stands went quiet as, while still 30 stories up in the air, Elena slipped off of her broom and fell down and down toward her death. In a living nightmare, Elena watched the stands flying past. She watched as the players on her team moved as fast as they could to get to her before she landed, but they were moving too slowly. The crowd held it's breath as she neared the ground. Her friends turned away. Going at least 60mph, Elena plunged through the air toward her inevitable demise. But Elena's death was postponed. Someone caught her, someone with bright red hair. George Weasly flew under her falling body and caught her in his arms. Jolted, Elena opened her eyes and saw George's worried face and the sky rushing past.

"Ughh…" she groaned. George looked down, startled.

"You all right?" he asked. Elena tried to nod, but couldn't mover her head. George seemed to understand. Then she passed out, with only the memory of George's kind face and sweet voice. George looked down in astonishment at Elena's innocent beauty. She was just so…so…lovely. He couldn't keep his eyes off her, and didn't take them off even as he was gliding to a gentle stop on the ground.

Teachers rushed up and grabbed Elena away from him, speeding away to get her to the hospital wing. As he watched them flying away, George wished that he could talk to Elena again. He knew that she was in some of his classes, but Ravenclaws tended to ignore other houses. George was sure that Elena wouldn't be like that to him though. After all, he had saved her life.
