Blackening, thickening darkness was all that was visible. Only a circle of white could be seen from afar as Yusei sunk deeper into the blue ocean with his two sets of limbs tied together. His state of mind was slipping off into mental shutdown. Visions of his top gang flashed before him- was it such a desired position that a defeated gang would really turn to this? Killing him off in a manner in which nobody would find him. It was cruel, as people like Crow would insist on his survival for who knows how long….
….
Speaking of Crow, he could hear fragments of the loud brash man's shouting. But he merely chalked it up to a hallucination. His heart decreasing each beat, and his vision turning murky with each feet- each inch he sunk until it seemed that the star died in a blackout.
Just as he crossed into that realm, some hand grabbed him with a jerking force, pulling him up and to a light of hope. His numbed senses failed to awaken him; therefore it wasn't a possibility for him to notice.
When Crow broke from the watery surface with Yusei in tow, he swam back to the grassy shore. Gratefully, the larger man's weight didn't hinder him in the water. But once they reached the edge, he couldn't muster much more to go further.
He knew from a prior experience of one of his adopted children nearly dying from the same fate that he had to expel the water clogging Yusei's system. He pushed on Yusei's chest with his bare hands, praying for a miracle. Crow couldn't, he wouldn't allow a brother to fall and die in his hands. An even worse punishment then any of his kids dying in front of him.
"Come on… hang in there Yusei! Don't die on me now."
He pressed harder and witnessed Yusei appearing like he was choking before the unclean water was spat out of his swollen lips, coughing many times. He was alive, his body slowing coming back into focus.
Crow smiled wide, a trademark expression of his and showing a more sincere feeling then ever before.
When his airway wasn't restricted anymore, he got a nice view of Crow peering from above him.
"Crow…?" As his mind tried to piece together the sequence of events, Crow couldn't pass up a moment to make a crack.
"Jack is so going to throw a hissy fit once he finds out."
