A/N: I had no idea what to call this story.

Race was exhausted, completely and totally exhausted. Finally making it home after a mission, he stumbled through the dark house, heading for the master bedroom. He didn't know what time it was, and he didn't really care, he just wanted to get a good couple hours' sleep. As he made his way to the master bedroom he resisted the urge to shut his sore and tired eyes, knowing if he did then odds are when he opened them again he'd be lying on the floor with a concerned Estella bending over him.

His hand had just found the cold metal of the doorknob when he heard another door in the hallway open. Turning he could barely make out a blur shooting towards him in the darkness. Something slammed into him, causing exhausted I-One agent to stumble back. Jessie, who clearly hadn't seen him, fell to the floor, The four-year-old whimpered in fear and backed away from the tall shadow she saw move in the darkness.

"Shh, Jess. It's jus' me." Race murmured, slowly kneeling down.

With a relieved cry of "Daddy!" that sounded more like a sob, Jessie leaped to her feet and wrapped her arms around his neck tightly. Crying, the four-year-old redhead buried her face in his shoulder.

"What's wrong Jessie?" Race asked though he had a feeling he already knew.

Jessie just shook her head, unable to speak through her tears.

"Was it a bad dream?" Race asked as he began to rub her back. When Jessie nodded, Race sighed. Unfortunately, nightmares were rather common for the girl. "It's okay Panchita. It wasn't real. It was just a bad dream. It's okay. Everything's okay Jessie." He continued murmuring words of comfort as he rose to his feet, still holding Jessie tightly. "Shh, it's okay. It's okay Jessie. It wasn't real."

Race glanced at the door of the master bedroom, wondering if he wanted to risk waking Estella. Deciding he didn't, he began walking back towards Jessie's room.

Estella blinked awake slowly and rolled over, expecting to see her husband. Though used to waking up alone while Race was away on a mission she was surprised to see she was alone. She could have sworn she'd heard him last night. Shaking her head, Estella got out of bed and went about her morning routine.

Walking down the hall, Estella planned to get some toast for breakfast then getting some work done before Jessie woke. She stopped her her tracks when she found the door to Jessie's room wide open. In side, she found Race lying on the bed with Jessie lying on his chest, wrapped up in her favorite Care Bear blanket. Figuring the four-year-old had a nightmare the night before, Estella slipped back out of the room before she woke either her husband or their daughter.

A/N: I find that after writing sad and emotional scenes it helps to write something cute like this. Which is why you can expect more stories like this with Race and any of the kids coming up.
