The Warmest Heart
It was January 8 and it was cold. Sakuno was shaking from the temperature. She hugged her sides to keep herself warm and cursed herself for not bringing a jacket or something to keep her body from freezing over as she watched Ryoma's tennis match against St. Rudolph's Kisarazu. She was surprised to see how badly he was loosing.
"Game to St. Rudolph's Kisarazu. 1- 3" yelled the referee. Ryoma began panting wildly.
"Damn it, why am I loosing so badly?" Ryoma asked himself silently. Then his eyes shifted to the shivering girl in the stands.
Ryoma calmed his breath to focus on his opponent.
"Come on Echizen. After all the things I've seen and heard about you, this is kind of a let down" called Kisarazu. Ryoma narrowed his eyes angrily. As soon as his anger came he looked towards Sakuno and the anger vanished. As he focused back on his opponent he saw that his serve had already been made. Ryoma ran to catch it but it was too late.
"15-love" bellowed the referee. Ryoma cursed himself yet again.
Another four score's later
"Game to St. Rudolph's Kisarazu. 1- 4, break time" he shouted. Kisarazu walked towards the bench to sit down and have a drink of water. Ryoma on the other hand had another plan in mind. Ryoma started walking towards the exit.
"E-Echizen, you're not allowed to leave the court" stuttered the referee.
"Che" grunted Ryoma as he exited and walked towards Sakuno.
"Here"
Sakuno looked up to see Ryoma. She was surprised at what he was holding out; his jacket.
"R-Ryoma-kun?" stuttered Sakuno as she continued to shiver.
"Your shivering is getting on my nerves. Take it" he ordered. Sakuno smiled, knowing what he really meant, and took the Seigaku jacket and began putting it on. He made sure she had it on before walking back to the entrance to the court.
"Arigato Ryoma-kun!" called Sakuno. Ryoma smirked.
"Break over" called the referee as Ryoma just walked back into the court.
"What? I can't fight a dehydrated opponent!" complained Kisarazu. Ryoma walked back on the court, racket ready in hand.
"I'll be fine"
"Game to Seigaku's Echizen, 6-4. Seigaku wins" yelled referee and the crowd cheered. Soon after, the crowd left to go back to their warm homes. All except for Kisarazu, who was sitting on the bench in the courts, astonished.
"How? How did he come back to win when I had a 3 game lead?" Kisarazu asked himself.
"Obviously, you don't know your opponent too well"
Kisarazu looked up to see Fuji Shusuke.
"What do you mean?" asked Kisarazu. Fuji sat next to him.
"Did you see that girl that Echizen gave his jacket to?" asked Fuji.
"Yeah" responded Kisarazu, not seeing the point.
"That was Echizen's girlfriend" replied Fuji. Kisarazu still didn't get it.
"The only reason he was playing so bad was because of that girl. He was worried about her getting sick in which case, distracted. So during the break Ryoma gave her his jacket so he could stop worrying and stop being distracted and with no distractions he was able to defeat you" explained Fuji. An understanding smirk rested upon Kisarazu's face.
"I guess he never struck me as one to care about anyone but himself" said Kisarazu.
"Yeah, Echizen Ryoma is by far the coldest bastard I know but I look past that to one of the warmest hearts" sighed Fuji.
Well that was my first ryosaku one shot so please review.
