Reasonable
He could tell that she wasn't sleeping well; the circles under her eyes and the way she half-heartedly completed her school work, so unlike her studious self, showed this. How many weeks had it been since they had left? How many months? Yet still, she wasn't herself. She refused to release herself from the pain.
He understood why, much better than his younger siblings could understand. But even though he understood her pain, he couldn't figure out a way to comfort her. Comfort, it seemed, was impossible.
You have to be reasonable about this. We can't go back. You won't see him again. You've got to move on. Why can't you understand that?
He shook his head as he looked over at her, thinking about all the things he knew he should say but couldn't. Saying such things could break Susan's heart even further.
Besides, Peter thought to himself, is it really so reasonable to ask her to forget about love?
