Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter

"Kill the spare!" "Avada Kedavra!" Cedric's world filled with black as he felt himself being thrown back. He heard Harry's yell, and then silence. Deafening silence. Cedric would still feel, though. Odd. He felt himself lying on something soft, and when his eyes finally opened, he found himself completely naked and in the sky.

"Cedric." Cedric stared wildly around, but no one was there. "Choose." "What?" His voice echoed in the silence. "Life and death. Heaven or Earth. Choose." Cedric closed his eyes in consternation. "I don't know. Give me some time." "Very well."

Cedric sat. He knew that Heaven was a place for heroes, a utopia for people who died a heroic death. It was complete and utter bliss. But Earth...Earth was filled with hardships.

Earth was also where Hogwarts was. Where he'd felt the most joyful. And Earth was where he remembered those green depths. Green was what he remembered most, perhaps. Even more so than Hogwarts and his family and everything else.

Green was what was imbedded in his mind. And it wasn't the dull green of the killing curse. It was the vibrant, emerald green depths of Harry's eyes. Harry. Cedric knew that he felt something for Harry, but he couldn't quite puzzle it out.

But just seeing Harry's green eyes, full of life and joy made him happy. And seeing Hermione Granger interact with Harry made Cedric feel like punching a wall. Cedric felt a lot for Harry, and he loved green because Harry's green eyes held so much life in them that it made Cedric want to never stop living.

But he had. And just envisioning Harry's face made Cedric want to return to Hogwarts, return to Harry's world. "I choose Earth." The three words were out of his mouth. There. He'd done it.

"Very well chosen." And then, in a whirlwind of color and heat, Cedric was back in his body. On Earth. Ready to meet those green depths once again. But they were no longer vibrant. They were agonized.

Cedric felt anger rise from deep inside him. Whoever had hurt Harry were going to PAY. But, his inner voice said, it wouldn't help Harry. And Cedric's Hufflepuff nature couldn't help cringing at the thought of hurting someone. So he snarled, and grabbed Harry's arm, Summoning the Portkey. Voldemort's scream of rage hit him as they appeared back at Hogwarts. And even though everyone was pressing in on them, demanding to know what had happened, Cedric's grey eyes met Harry's green ones and he knew that he would be OK as long as Harry was at his side.
