As soon as Solana saw the time, she knew she needed to get her ass out of bed and get to work. She had to be at the base at what-6:30? 7:00? Seeing how it was 5:45 in the damn morning, she should probably get ready. Ignoring her boyfriends muffled complaints about being cold, Solana slipped out of the toasty warm bed and began her usual before work routine.
By the time she was done with her shower and freshening up, it was 6:00 o'clock. God dammit.
Darting down the stairs, socks in hand, the ranger began to root through the kitchen, looking for something easy and mobile for breakfast. Frozen waffles? Nah, takes too long. Leftover dinner? Eating that while riding a Doduo? No thanks! Poptart? Perfect!
Grabbing her morning meal of choice, she plunked herself down in a chair and was about to put on her socks until she heard a soft "Ahem".
Solana looked up cheekily at her boyfriend, "Ahem what, Kellyn?"
"That's not a very healthy breakfast, Solana," he sighed melodramatically, "How will you stay fit and active now?"
"I think I'll manage," Solana replied, "Not like I have much time to make anything better." she muttered.
"I can make you breakfast." Kellyn said simply.
Solana shook her head, "No, Kellyn, I'll be okay, really-" "Its fine, Solana, I'm already awake so I may as well help you get ready!" Kellyn interjected, "Just get your things together and I'll handle breakfast!"
The blue haired ranger sighed, "If you're sure…"
"I'm sure Solana! Go get ready!"
She smiled. After putting on her socks and starting to pack her work bag, she let her mind wander. Meeting and, eventually, dating Kellyn was something Solana considered to be one of the best parts of her life. She liked how organized and serious he could be, it helped her messy and fun lifestyle from getting too wild. But she did appreciate all the things he did for her, like making breakfast during a busy morning! When Solana thought about all the things she enjoyed about Kellyn, she made a startling conclusion.
"Solana! Breakfast is done!" she heard her boyfriend call, shaking her out of her thoughts
The ranger got up, enjoyed her breakfast, which was very good despite being done on short notice, gave her boyfriend a 'see you soon' kiss, skipped out of her house happily at her newfound realization.
Yes, Kellyn was the one she wanted to marry.
The word breakfast is hard to spell.
I would love some constructive criticism. It's been about three years since I've written something, so any advice would be very helpful!
