one.

She's something like a hero with her wide eyes and full smile and piranha teeth. She smears her warmth into the air, intent on drowning everyone in it. No one denies her and no one defies her. Does she not have the whole world in her palm, wrapped around her little finger?

"I'm just a girl," she says with one of those smiles that make people weak in the knees.

She's only thirteen. Some have to remind themselves that (you know who you are—Morty, Lance, who else, who else?).

two.

She says she is just a girl, but she carries herself like a woman; shoulders back and chin high. She doesn't walk, she struts, but she never seems obnoxious and others often wonder, how does she do that? People (people like Whitney, people like Jasmine) want to hate, hate, hate her, but they can't because she's just a bucket of aspartame and they can't compete with a zero-calorie sweetener like her.

One day she shows up and thinks she can trample a crime syndicate underfoot.

She almost succeeds.

What with her mechanical army of Monsters and pretty, remorseless eyes.

three.

When she first comes face-to-face with him, he forgets his name. He recalls an executive's murmurs, harsh words under breath, watch out for her, watch out for her, she is small, but she will kill you .

He thinks he understands what that executive meant, now that he faces her and her brilliant grin and piranha teeth. His tongue is heavy in his mouth and he thinks it would be wrong to kiss a girl like her and he thinks, goodness me those teeth of hers will bite my face right off.

Goodness.

Whatever, man.

This isn't a fairy tale.

four.

Even though she is gorgeous (for just thirteen and just a girl) and even though she is oh so cunning behind her liquid sugar voice, he still reminds her that the world is unforgiving. She grins at the barrel of his gun like it's the funniest thing she has ever seen.

"You're the first one to ever do that," she says cheerfully, and he thinks for just a split second that she is not_.

"Human. You're only human," he tells her, and he thinks that is a lie. She's a monster.

"In stories, the hero never gets shot," she tells him.

And—
he holds the gun to her head and says, "Sorry sweetheart, but this is real life and real bad guys use guns."

She's laughing at him when he pulls the trigger.

bang!

(he brings that executive the body)
(that executive says something along the lines of 'you'd have to love her to kill her' and he says 'sure')
(he doesn't tell that executive he kissed cold dead girl lips, just to see)
