With You Beyond Death
'Inuyasha, choose who you desire.'
'Naraku, you're going to pay for this,' he hissed.
'You will have to decide someday, I'm merely speeding up the process to save our anxiety.' Naraku smirked. 'You better choose quickly, Inuyasha. If you don't, I'm afraid that you will lose both of them.'
'Damn you, Naraku.'
Kagome ran frantically into the Forest of Inuyasha, hoping that he hadn't left. But the truth was the truth. Nothing could change the fact that Inuyasha have died. No matter how Kagome wanted to deny it, it was there. It was real. When Kagome finally realized that Inuyasha was gone for good, she found herself under the Goshinki Tree, where they first met. She dropped to her knees, and finally broke down. Al this time she tried to be strong, but she couldn't do it. It was like when Inuyasha perished, her heart had followed him. Life had no meaning anymore.
'Kagome.' A voice called out gently.
Kagome looked up, and saw myriads of Inuyasha floating above and around her, different forms of Inuyasha. They were all mouthing the same word, Kagome. Finally, one of them stood out and confronted Kagome.
'Inuyasha…' Kagome's eyes were filled with tears again. She ran into Inuyasha's arms, holding him close to her, hoping that he will never leave her grasp.
'Kagome, what's wrong' Inuyasha whispered into Kagome's ear softly, in an unexpectedly gentle voice.
'Please, don't leave me anymore, I beg you.'
'I won't, Kagome. I'll always be in your heart.' Inuyasha released Kagome, and faded into a slight silhouette in the darkness of the forest.
'No, Inuyasha, come back, don't leave!' Kagome shouted at the faint figure drifting gradually away from her. The shadow completely disappeared, and Kagome turn to the Goshinki Tree. She had made up her mind.
'I'm coming, Inuyasha, wait for me.' She whispered with a sad smile.
Kagome ran up to the tree, and took out the arrow embedded into the tree. She looked at where Inuyasha was once sealed, and smiled. She leaned against the tree and held the sacred arrow right in front of her chest.
'Goodbye, everyone, wish me luck.'
Kagome thrust the arrow into her heart. With a small gasp, she let out her last breath, and left the world with a satisfied grin on her face. She knew that she had disappointed all the people who love her, but she knew she had made the right decision. She would never leave her love again, she would be happy, with her half-demon lover.
At the same time, a tender gust of wind blew through the Forest of Inuyasha. Up in the starry night sky, two dim figures slowly meet, emerged with each other, and was never separated again. The half-demon Inuyasha, and the pure-hearted miko, Kagome Higuarashi remained as a beautiful legend that was passed down generation by generationby the villagers in the village.
