Anita was planning for the weekend; Sunday was Father's Day. She'd make sure her boys got cards and gifts for their Dad. She wondered who'd do that for Rey's girls seeing that Deborah was so ill.

Suddenly an awful thought struck her, this would be the first Father's day for Lennie since Cathy's death in March, and if she remembered correctly her birthday was only a few day's after that.

She pulled out a seldom-used personnel file, found and dialed a contact number.

"Hello Julia, this is Lt. Van Buren."

"No, he's OK, but I think you better come see him for Father's Day."

Julia flung some things in a suitcase. She'd considered taking the boys, but decided no, this was going to be like old times, just her and Daddy. They'd go to the OTB and a couple of ball games and she'd watch him play pool.

After they'd had some fun, she'd get him to take her to see Cathy. She hadn't been able to go to the memorial. She'd felt so bad about that, like she hadn't gotten to say goodbye. They'd go together on Cath's birthday and it would be just the three of them again, like it used to be when things were good.
