Disclaimer: Alright, I admit it! I don't own Pokémon! But I don't make a profit on this, either!
A lone Pokémon Ranger stood with his partner, Metagross, looking over Iron Island from a cliff's edge. He was on sentry duty, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious while he was on medical leave from working in the field. This medical leave was explained by a pristine white cast covering his lower leg, covering everything below his knee, which, thankfully, he could still bend without pain. His leg had been crushed under a pillar working undercover in the Oreburgh Mine, and he'd had to return to the Ranger Union and let someone else take over the case. Suddenly, his Metagross sent him a message using telepathy.
'There's something on the Eastern shore, Jackie.'
"Is it anything of interest, do you think?" Jackie asked, turning to face the shore Metagross had pointed out. He had to squint to try to see anything in the dimming light. The sun was setting. Someone would relieve him soon…
'I think it might be a body.' Jackie jumped up, startled.
"A Pokémon?" he asked.
'No,' Metagross replied. 'Human.' Jackie turned to run and check it out, but the pain in his leg reminded him he was temporarily out of commission. He picked up his crutches and turned again to Metagross.
"Go check it out. I'm going to go get someone to catch up with you. I can't make it to the Eastern Shore quickly enough," he instructed. He was about to do as he said he would and get help, but suddenly he found himself and his crutches lifted into the air by a Psychic attack delivered by Metagross. Metagross carried them both down to the Eastern shore, and set Jackie down carefully on his crutches. Jackie rolled his eyes at his friend. "You're too much like me. Never listen to anything anyone says." Metagross seemed to smirk at him, but then both became all business.
'It's a girl. Younger than you are. I think she's still breathing, but I sense blood.' Jackie nodded at Metagross' assessment. He used his crutches to take the few steps left towards the body, and kneeled beside her, ignoring the messages sent by the nerves in his ankle reminding him of the damage there. He could see no signs that she'd been harmed, and when he checked for a pulse in her wrist, there was one, although it was slightly weaker than it should be.
"Where is the blood coming from?" he asked Metagross, seeing the girl's pallid color and knowing there must be something he was missing.
'Her back. No spinal injuries. You should be able to move her enough to turn her over without hurting her. No, wait- I'll do it.' Metagross gently turned the girl, who looked to be about 14 now that Jackie noticed, and Jackie immediately saw the problem. There were two bullets in her back, both seemingly missing anything vital, but dangerous nonetheless. He flipped open his phone and dialed the Union.
"A body just washed up on the Eastern Shore. It's a girl. She's still breathing, but there's two bullets in her back. I need EMTs here, now!"
Alright, this is just a preview. I just started this story, so review, and if I get enough reviews, I'll continue uploading it. It's obviously sort of tying together Pokémon and The Bourne Identity (which I also don't own!), but it's NOT a crossover. Just Pokémon. Mostly. No, I'm kidding, it's just Pokémon unless I change my mind for some reason, which I doubt. So, tell me if you like it, and I'll keep it going!
