Only a Dream

Lucy giggled as she watched her pink haired daughter run around in their garden. Natsu stared at them, inching closer to the blond mage. She noticed and smiled. Grabbing his arm, she forced him to stay next to her, not that he would leave any time soon.
"Layla. Daddy's back" She called out. The child, known as Layla, practically jumped for joy when she saw her father. Natsu. Natsu was the father of the child running towards him. He did not have the time to think about the situation because Layla had tackled Natsu in a bone-crushing hug. He observed the girl in his arms, unknowingly hugging her back. She had bubble gum hair that ended mid-back. Her doe brown eyes sparkled wit happiness as she asked about the mission he had been on. What mission.

This morning, he had gone to the guild, got in a few fights with Gray, talked to Lucy along with the rest of Team Natsu, and in the afternoon, went fishing with Happy. He was worn out from the day in general so he decided to go to bed early... Oh

oh

He was dreaming. This was a dream, only a fantasy. One that would never come true. She had a boyfriend. Some brown haired bookworm. Someone who made her happier than what he had ever hoped to accomplice. That depressed him. How could someone who lives in a library beat him. Natsu Dragneel had never lost in his life, until now. She ditched the rest of the team sometimes to go on dates with him. He didn't even know his name. Not that he cared. It's just... he wishes that he could make her smile like that. That he would be the only one to comfort her if she was down. The one to be with he for the rest of her life. The typical knight in shining armour. Sadly, he would never be able to do that, he was hardly the gentleman she wanted, she deserved. He was a dragon, the 'evil' one. The one who would be defeated, his princess taken away from him so they could get married or whatever happens at the end of a Fairy Tall, while he would be left, alone.

Natsu was never alone, he knew that. His nakama, family would be there for him through thick and thin, but that was not enough sometimes. The only person he truly needed was her. The only one he could not have. The one who belonged to another.

Still, he dreamed for his happy ending. He always would. He loved her and that would never change. As hard as it is to see her in the arms of another he must accept that, because, her happiness mattered more than his own. If she needed him he would always be there, as a best friend. She did not love him. Even after knowing this, his heart would not stop beating for her.

Yes! I did it! It's 23:36 right now and I've finished my first one shot. I tried and failed to make it angsty but I hope you like it.
