Another story…I truly hate myself. But this is a one-shot about Sirius's reaction to finding James and Lily dead. Please review!
Sirius:
Pain. Pain coursed through his body as his motorcycle skidded to the ground. He could see the ruins of the house…please, no, let them be okay, let them have made it out okay…
Sirius jumped off the motorbike quicker than you could ever think possible. He ran at top speed to the remains of his best friend's house…James…Lily…Harry…
He managed to make it through the door without in caving in over him. He glanced throughout the shattered remains of James and Lily's house. Where were they? Then he saw something on glinting red on the ground.
Sirius knelt to the ground, gently moving debris away from whatever it was. When he saw, he choked back a scream.
It was James, eyes closed, mouth slightly open, unmoving.
"No…James…Prongs…wake up," Sirius felt tears threatening to come out of his eyes. His heart felt like it was about to break into tiny pieces, because James could be dead. "C'mon, Prongs, wake up." A bit of salty liquid made it down Sirius's cheek. His heart shattered- he felt his entire life slip away. It was no use denying it- his brother, one of the main reasons he kept living his life everyday, was gone, never to return to the world of the living again.
"James, it isn't funny, wake up," Sirius sobbed as more and more tears cascaded down his cheeks. "James, if you don't wake up I'll go tell Lily…"
Lily. He had to see if Lily was alright. He gently set James's body down onto the floor, shaking slightly as he did.
Sirius searched through the main floor- no trace of Lily. Did she make it out alive? He tried going up the staircase- the stairs creaked, but he made it up.
He decided to check Harry's room first- he hoped Harry was okay. Please, Lord, let Harry be okay…
As he entered the room, he fell to the ground in despair. Lily, lying in the same position he had found James in, was on the floor, green orbs open and glassy. Sirius sobbed even harder. Death had not only taken James, but Lily as well. He turned her body onto her back and laid a gentle kiss on her cheek.
Before he could exit the room he heard a soft crying. Sirius straightened up immediately- what was it? He looked over to Harry's crib- and was shocked.
His godson was sitting there, crying, looking at him with wide eyes so much like his mother's…
"How did you survive, Harry?" Sirius said, gently picking up the baby. "Your parents are gone, but you're still here."
For the first time, he noticed Harry had a scar on his forehead. It was shaped like a lightning bolt- what could it be?
"What happened to your face, little guy?" Sirius brushed back Harry's hair for another look. It didn't look like anything he had ever seen before- could some of the wreckage fallen and hit Harry on his head?
Harry looked up at him. "Pa-foot," he said solemnly.
Sirius gave a watery chuckle. "Yeah, Padfoot's here, Harry. He's going to take care of you."
Looking into the toddler's eyes, Sirius could feel his heart breaking, heart shattering. His best friend in the entire world was dead, and his wife was as well. But he wouldn't let anything happen to little Harry. Not now, not ever.
But then he thought of Peter. Peter had betrayed them. Because this was obviously Voldemort's doing. Peter would pay for this. He was the rat, he was the traitor…
Remus…Sirius choked back another sob. He had believed it was Remus all this time. No wonder Remus always looked heartbroken when Sirius, James, or Lily had purposefully ignored him. He had done nothing wrong, and yet Sirius blamed him for it.
Peter would die. Sirius decided it right then and there. And Sirius would be the one to kill him if it was the last thing he did.
