CHAPTER 1

Diana didn't know how to react. During the entire drive to Santa Monica, Sam and Astrid had talked up the apartment they had, but she never expected she would live in a place that looked as good as this. Let alone with either Sam or Astrid - the latter of whom is known for disliking Diana with a passion.

"Oh my god. Oh. My. God. That view is amazing!" Diana exclaimed when she saw the beautiful view of the surf from their balcony. The apartment Sam had found was a real catch. If it weren't for Albert, he doubted he would've found it at all. The real suprise was how cheap it was. The two story building was located right on Ocean Front Walk, and only half a mile from the famous Santa Monica pier. When Astrid and Sam first toured it they were sold. They took extreme joy in the suprise and happiness on Diana's usually snarky face.

"Pretty cool, huh?" Sam said, trying and failing horribly to mask how excited he was. And to make matters worse for Sam, Quinn happened to walk past their apartment, carrying two surfboard, towards the surf.

"Oh go on then. Have fun," Sam didn't need Astrid to tell him twice, he was off in a wetsuit within a minute, "Lord knows you've earned it" She muttered, and even though she abandoned her faith during the horrible times in the FAYZ, it was hard to shake off phrases like that. What else was she to say? 'Gaia knows he has earned it'? No. Too much of a reminder of that horrid year. Plus, the less spoken about the Gaiaphage, the better.

Lana was falling apart. After promising Sanjit that she would stop smoking - which she had - they had had way more fights. Most of it was a result of the long-distance - Sanjit's adoptive parents had taken Sanjit with them, and Lana couldn't leave due to her own parents. But the main reason she was falling apart, was longing, not for Sanjit, no, but a cigarette. She had gone cold-turkey for almost a month, and it was really taking its toll. She was originally convinced herself that she wasn't addicted, but to any onlooker who knew she had at least one cigarette would see that she is completely addicted. Then again, chain-smoking for around a year would do that to you. Surprise, surprise.

Yes I know this chapter was short, but I couldn't think of anything reasonable to keep this chapter going. Hope you liked it
