Siege of Konoha
Konoha is besieged by unknown foreign ninja. The few Leaf-nin who were off on missions must find a way to break the siege and save the village.
Prologue
Long before the time of this story, long before even the time of the hidden villages, the shinobi wandered as rootless and unhindered as the shadows themselves. They owed their allegiance only to their Clan. Seventeen of these great Clans battled for mastery of the Great Arts. Each Clan had a fragment of the Great Teaching Scroll guarded by their greatest and most cunning.
If any Clan was to lose its Fragment, the foundation upon which it based its life, culture and jutsus would crumble. Though each Clan had at leastone Fragment, many more existed. The search lead the shinobi across the globe, each learning new jutsus from the regions they lingered longest in. In their wandering, each Clan found sites of great Power that they declared sacred and vowed to protect from all others. The shinobi searched for generations, collecting more and more Fragments. The gathering of Fragments was not always peaceful. Oft were the times that Clan warred upon Clan to gain the other's Fragments. As the number of Fragments in a Clan fluctuated, so too did the Clan's power.
Usually each war involved no more than four Clans. However, about 500 years ago all the Clans were at war. Each tried to protect its own Fragments while stealing from the other Clans. After the losses became too great and the gains too few, the Clan leaders called for a ceasefire. In those days, tradition and honor were such that once the Clanleader's word was given, no written documents or assurances were needed.
To regroup and regain their strength, each Clan journeyed to its strongest Sacred Site of Power. The Clans only intended to stay for a few seasons. Temporary communal buildings went up. Then more permanent buildings were erected. In time these settled Clans became known as Hidden Villages of Shinobi. The Hidden Villages allied themselves with non-shinobi countries and were given contracts that became the village's lifeblood. The Fragments, once so vital to the shinobi's existence, slipped into the dusty archives and became known only to the leader, the "kage," of each village.
The Fragments did not slip into obscurity everywhere however. A few clans resisted domesticity and regained their wandering ways. One such Clan traveled North to where a large concentration of the Clans had settled. The first village in the Clan of the Subtle Mind's path was the resting place of the Clan of Leaf and Shadow, now called the Hidden Village of Konoha.
Thus our story begins…
