Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "A Cow on the Line" from Season 2, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.

Edward was getting old. He clanked loudly as he puffed along, delivering empty cattle cars to a nearby market town.

Sun shone, and birds sang, but trouble loomed ahead!

"Come on, come on!" he puffed!

"No, no, no!" cried the cars.

But Edward was determined. He kept clanking along.

Some cows were grazing nearby, and were not used to seeing trains. The noise and smoke scared them so much, that they jumped over the fence and ran across the line! A coupling was broken in the process, and some cars came loose!

Edward didn't take much notice. He was used to cattle cars.

"Bother those cars!" he thought. "Why can't they be quiet!"

When they arrived at the next station, they finally realized what had happened.

Gordon and Henry soon heard the news, they laughed for hours.

"Fancy allowing cows to break his train! They wouldn't dare do that to us!"

Toby puffed up beside Edward, looking cross.

"You couldn't help it Edward. You've never seen a cow. I've seen many!"

Edward puffed crossly away.

A few days later, Gordon came through Edward's station.

"Seen any cows?" he teased to Edward.

Edward was still cross.

"Hurry, hurry, hurry!" puffed Gordon.

"Don't make such a fuss, don't make such a fuss!" grumbled his coaches.

A long stretch of line laid ahead. In the distance was a bridge, and Gordon' driver saw something on the bridge.

"Slow down!" called Gordon' driver, and shut off steam, just in time! Lying right in front of them, was a cow!

The cow mooed loudly.

He moved closer to the cow, and let out a great big whistle, but the cow wouldn't move! She had lost her calf and felt lonely. She mooed sadly.

Everyone tried to send her away, but she wouldn't go.

Finally, Henry arrived.

"What's this?" he asked.

"A cow!" replied Gordon.

"A cow you say? I'll soon settle her! Shoo, shoo!" puffed Henry.

The cow mooed again.

Henry backed away anxiously.

"I don't want to hurt her!" he said.

At the next station, Henry's driver told the signalman about the cow, and told him it was blocking the line.

"That must be Bluebell!" said the signalman. "Her calf is here, looking for her mother! Percy will take her along!"

Soon Percy arrived. He collected the calf, and set on his way.

Bluebell was very happy to see her calf, and the driver led them away.

Gordon and Henry felt rather silly, and the story soon spread.

"Well, well, well!" chuckled Edward. "Two big engines afraid of one little cow!"

"Rubbish!" said Gordon. He knew that Edward understood what he just said.
