Deceptive

There was too little in a glance.

That was a lesson which was soon learned. It was a friendship that began through hardship. It was a friendship that was forged through hardship. In later years it would face yet more hardship.

The simple appearance of comfort was unwelcomed. His constant dreams of a home he may not return to were irksome. His upper class ways and fear were burdensome.

He was smarter than most.

The rugged appearance of destitution and suffering was intimidating. His dreams of a home that was stolen were unrelenting. His lust for vengeance was stubborn and reckless.

He was misunderstood more than most.

The ways of comfort and ease were a constant aching reminder of all that had been lost. He would have left the burglar long ago. He was too foolish and unused to being without his comforts.

Time was his greatest ally. He had been unfortunate enough to make his dislike clear. He had been unfortunate enough to have been wounded so mortally by vengeance that he was made a blind man. Time was his saviour – as was the will of a certain fool.

Within an instant, his dreams had shattered. His goals were destroyed. He saw death's cruel face smirking at him. He also saw his judgement fragment.

An alliance, a friendship, and a comrade were earned.

Author's Note: This… This is not really what I wanted. What is done is done though. That's one of the rules! I apologise for my lack of knowledge. I saw the first instalment in The Hobbit movie trilogy and I can't escape. I want to see the movie again. I want to know what happens. I want to see the next instalment… Oh! My earlier apology does not account for the vagueness. I do offer my sincere apologies if you were unsatisfied with my work though. I thank you for reading this short piece. I hope that you enjoyed reading my work.
